Mordor vs Mordor Masterguide

By Segway - 8th August 2009 - 00:58 AM

This is an old guide which has now been revamped with some small changes to strategy and new replays.

A Mordor mirror is probably the hardest mirror game. There has to be a constant control of orcs at all times when there are more than ten battalions on the map at once. A crucial aspect of this match-up is to creep the wargs faster than the enemy can. This is because of the need for a solid income leading to a faster Nazgul and faster darkness. There are many ways to start off with Mordor, and directions to take with starting units, some of which are better than others. This guide will show you how to get the advantage over a regular Mordor strategy. This is also probably the longest match up you can possibly play because it normally comes down to Balrog usage, which this guide will also be helping you with.

A lot of people have confusion regarding how many orc pits to create, but you just need to get five pits no matter what. It does not matter what the enemy does, it is a counter to anything another Mordor can do. You will find because Mordor gets mainly Orcs and Nazguls the main counter to them is fire. This causes both sides to get fire archers combined with Orcs and the occasional catapult.

Power Point Progression

IPB Image

This power point route is used because Eye of Sauron is essential for your first attack and later on for the times you need extra leadership. Tainted Land needs to be chosen so you can progress to Industry. You should not have to use Tainted Land as your enemy will just overlay it. With Industry it is a must, as you are relying on your three Furnaces to give you your economy with Industry. From there you are going to need Darkness because if you do not and your opponent does use it, your Orcs are going to get rolled over by his all over the map. Lastly is Balrog which is essential to attempt at finishing the game.

Here is the correct power point route:

Eye -> Tainted land -> Industry -> Darkness -> Balrog

Build Order

The most successful build order when playing this match up is just straight pits to get those Orcs out fast to creep and harass. Outposts later on are key in gaining the advantage over your enemy.
