Spotlight with Anon

By CENTAUER - 21st November 2016 - 18:44 PM

Once again we are back with another Spotlight and this time we interview one of our more distinguished players of Battle For Middle Earth, Anon!

GameReplays: Hello, thanks for doing this week’s Spotlight. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Anon: Hi, you’re welcome. My name is Daniel and I’m a 29 years old German. I studied politics and economics and currently working on my master thesis. My hobbies are mainly football, BfME, beer and boobs.

GameReplays: Tell us a bit about your online gaming history?

Anon: There’s not too much to tell about: I junked CS (beta – CS:S) for many years before I found that this game was pissing me off too much. I skirmished some Command & Conquer before I found this masterpiece of a game called Battle for Middel-Earth. Oh yeah and I played FIFA from time to time.

GameReplays: Why did you join GR ?

Anon: I can’t remember tbh. I guess it was because all of the BfME community was there.

GameReplays: What is your favorite game?

Anon: BfME.

GameReplays: What is your favorite game genre? Why?

Anon: I really enjoy the RTS genre because it’s challenges me to play a ‘perfect’ game. Not making a mistake in sense of bad move or missing something out. I don’t feel that challenged when I’m playing CS or FIFA.

GameReplays: So, how did you first get started with BFME?

Anon: A friend in college told me about this game so I tried it. At that time, I was still into CS. So I played the Campaign and found it was fun but I didn’t go online. In 2007 I quitted CS and started to play BfME online.

GameReplays: What do you like so much about BfME, that has kept you playing the game for years?

Anon: I like the atmosphere this game creates, the visuals are awesome. I mean seriously: an army with Theo, Ara, Drumm, WK and Eye LD – how sick does it look?
Moreover I enjoy the gameplay. It’s so much fun to control a nice Rohan army, or to lame GtW on host. And while the macro is pretty simple, the game has a decent micro depth. I like this balance of simplicity and complexity.

GameReplays: What is your favorite army and Match-up?

Anon: My favourite army is Rohan and I love to have a fod-ally vs two fol.

GameReplays: What is your favorite map, and who is your best Team game partner?

Anon: My favorite map is Anorien and while it was Xeha who helped me improving a lot and carried me 10000 times without going mad at me when I was a big noob in 2v2, Svago aka Grossmeister and I are a good team, because we use to have the same approach or way of thinking in matches. I enjoyed playing with Felix too, although team Spandau failed miserably.

GameReplays: What would you do to change or improve game?

Anon: Nothing, just keep it as it is. I think it was a good move of forshire and his fellows to speed up unit movement.

GameReplays: Playing against a Forces of Darkness or Forces of Light opponent?

Anon: FoD.

GameReplays: Killing a high ranked Gandalf the White, or wiping out an entire castle with a Balrog?

Anon: Smash that monkey on his horse.

GameReplays: Army of the Dead or Balrog?

Anon: AoD.

GameReplays: What is your Clanwars history?

Anon: Uhmm, I never made it into top rankings. When the game was very active, I was playing 3v3 only. Big fault!

GameReplays: What do you like (or dislike?) most about the BfME community?

Anon: It’s nice to see that there are still people putting effort in this old game. Generally speaking I’d say that the percentage of trolls is too high.

GameReplays: What games are you active on currently, and how do your experiences there compare to those from BFME?

Anon: “You shall have no other Gods before me.”

GameReplays: What are some characteristics that you think help make up a great RTS player?

Anon: Having a clear mind and a strategic way of thinking, good analytical skills and the ability to multitask like shit will definetly helpful to become a good player. For me I can say that my multitasking abilities are too weak to become a pro RTS player.

GameReplays: How many hours a day do you spend playing games?

Anon: It depends. Nowadays I’m not playing every day anymore. Some days I spend one hour, on other days it might be six or seven.

GameReplays: How has gaming affected your life?

Anon: It helped me procrastinating things 

GameReplays: When you're not gaming or posting on gamereplays, what do you do in your everyday life?

Anon: I hang out with friends, I like running, watch football, read a good book and tons of newspapers, use tinder… I’m a pretty average dude biggrin.gif

GameReplays: Where do you see yourself in 5 Years from now?

Anon: … at the Gameranger-Lobby, desperately waiting for a game.

GameReplays: If you could give one tip of advice to others like you, what would it be?

Anon: Don’t count the chickens before they are hatched.

GameReplays: If you had a time machine, would you go back in time or visit the future?

Anon: Visit the future. I was always curious about how the world will look like in 500 years.

GameReplays:Anything you'd like to add?

Anon: You can’t do epic shit with basic people.

And with that we have come to the end of this week's Spotlight. Do tell us your thoughts about the interview and do comment on who you would like to see featured next below!
