BT2:DC Game Information

Bugfixes

The following is just a small sample of important 1.06 bugs fixed in BT2:DC. We've tried to keep these bugs quiet while 1.06 was popular, so that 1.06 players could enjoy a game free of bug-abuse to the greatest extent possible. But now that the official servers are going down and the time of 1.06 is at an end, it's important to inform the community about why it's time to switch to BT2:DC.

Remember the first time you saw the Naz/Gorkil attack bug? That lone 1100 hero approached your Fortress, and you proceeded to laugh incredulously. Then it killed your fort. In less than 10 seconds. However, this exploit, like so many others, does not exit on BT2:DC.

Though you'll have a lot to worry about when facing BT2:DC Dwarves, unkillable Mines and extreme boredom are now off the list. With major balance changes and bug fixes, Dwarves are now a faction which actually has multiple ways to win, and none of them involve placing a bunch of upgraded Battlewagons in Mine Shafts to wipe out everything near a Mine.

Giving the fastest mounted, ground unit in the game invincibility... that sounds balanced, right? Maybe not so much. Blade of Purity is disabled when Glorfindel is mounted for a reason, but that doesn't do a whole lot of good if you can avoid this restriction by using it while dismounted and then mounting into it, like on 1.06. BT2:DC Glorfindel cannot mount while using Blade of Purity. Now, your opponent can't smash your base into smithereens while grabbing a quick nap and then speeding off in an uncatchable, unkillable blur with a few clicks of the mouse.

As if Firebombs weren't overpowered enough already, Corsairs of 1.06 could be abused to double attack with them. Now, Firebombs have both been nerfed and fixed, so each Corsair battalion is no longer a mini Drogoth.

In 1.06, the famed Riders of Rohan are extraordinarily good at killing both enemy units, and, it turns out, their allies, too. But not on BT2:DC. Splash damage from Rohirrim attacks no longer hurts friendly units. (Same with Wildmen Torches and several heroes.)

Singularly useless and showing his vast age in the early levels, a bug-abused 1.06 Thranduil became incredibly overpowered when he gained the Deadeye ability. On BT2:DC, you'll no longer face Thranduils with infinite Deadeye, though buffs to Thranduil himself means he is now deadly on the battlefield without being abused.

Though definitely an abuse of all the game's designs and ideals, the bug which makes each Goblin Warrior killed give off almost as much experience and power points as a Dwarven Guardian benefited a player's opponent instead of himself. On BT2:DC, however, a Goblin spam strategy no longer means your enemy will be a summoning a Balrog right as you reach your eighth power point.

Getting out the most expensive, elite archer in the game and then equipping it with the most expensive, elite upgrade in the game resulted in what on 1.06? Oh, right, becoming way weaker. With the firing rate bug fixed on BT2:DC, Mirkwood Archers with Silverthorn are now properly the most potent ranged force on Middle-earth.
