FFA Tournament Results

By Deth - 24th April 2011 - 13:02 PM

Yesterday's FFA Tournament consisted of three FFA's on Nevrast, a map made for this tournament by ShadowKirisin. After the three FFA's were played, we took an average of the positions the players scored in order to give them an overall ranking.

The First FFA Review

In the first game, every player managed to make it to midgame with no early kills or demolisher rushes. As the game commenced, AoW|Nathan took the lead as Men of the West taking map control on both sides of him. He then decided to have a cross-map battle against RoNsTaR (Men), leaving skill of a noob (Men) to have a showdown with a Brutal army at the top of the map. It seemed everyone had forgot SiderAment (Men), who had his base destroyed, still had not been defeated and had taken refuge in the unexplored bottom right corner of the map.

After managing to take down RoNsTaR's Fortress, Nathan decided to focus his attention on eliminating the Brutal who was preoccupied with fighting off skill of a noob. Bit of a double if you ask me, but Nathan knew Brutal was the only one there who couldn't flame him. Shortly after Nathan killed Brutal, he destroyed skill of a noob's final few buildings to leave only three players left; himself, RoNsTaR, and the seemingly forgotten SiderAment.

Nathan returned to RoNsTaR's base, only to find another Fortress. After seeing that, he disconnected shortly afterwards. Third place for Nathan.

This was probably the point where RoNsTaR realised that he was not alone because the game had not ended. After a ten minute hunt, he managed to find SiderAments hidden camp and quickly decimated it, making him the winner of the first game.

The Second FFA Review

This game started with a early double from Nathan (Isengard) and RoNsTaR (Goblins) on SiderAment. They obviously didn't want to make the same mistake as last time, so kept attacking him until they saw the 'SiderAment has been defeated' cross their screen.

There were three main wars going on; Brutal against skill of a noob (Elves), Nathan against RoNsTaR (again!) and MMcolacNL (Dwarves) against another Brutal, which I will refer to as Red Brutal (Isengard).

Red Brutal managed to take out MMcolacNL after using devastating powers such as Dragon Strike on his base. Red Brutal then focused his attention on RoNsTaR who was still under attack from Nathan. RoNsTaR tried to fight off Nathan's army with a Balrog summon, but Nathan's Wormtongue used his level 10 Corrode Allegiance power to take control of the Balrog resulting in the summon having little effect on Nathan's attack.

Meanwhile, skill of a noob managed to destroy the other Brutal, having Haldir, Elrond and Legolas all at level 10. He too, then focused his attention on RoNsTaR. Maybe everyone wanted to stop RoNsTaR from winning again or maybe it was just a bad luck, I don't know. Inevitably, RoNsTaR was defeated after a flourish of powers on his base. This left Nathan, skill of a noob, and Red Brutal.

Nathan started to attack the Red Brutal, and the Red Brutal responded, unleashing it's true BT2DC power. skill of a noob was working his way around the map, and Red Brutal was next on his list, leaving Red Brutal being doubled by him and Nathan. In the end, Nathan's skill was no match for Maddox's BT2DC Brutals, and Red Brutal crushed Nathan in an Isengard mirror despite being doubled, leaving skill of a noob the winner of this game.

The Third FFA Review

The third and final game commenced without RoNsTaR due to him having to leave. Everyone knew this game mattered, which created a tense atmosphere on the battlefield. Nathan was still shaken from the trauma that Red Brutal had put him through in the previous game and this impacted on his play. Many micro mistakes resulted in him losing his Nazguls on countless occasions which ultimately lead to his death. Fourth place to Nathan.

SiderAment(Dwarves), skill of a noob(Men) and MMcolacNL(Mordor) were fighting it out up the top half of the map. SiderAment obviously got bored with no Nathan around to attack, so he decided to build some forward mines to attack MMcolacNL. MMcolacNL managed to hold him off for a while, but with the pressure of skill of a noob and SiderAment, he could no longer hold and was defeated. This left two players to fight it out for the top spot; SiderAment and skill of a noob.

After an enduring battle, SiderAment managed to take down skill of a noob's Fortress which lead to his win shortly afterwards.

Well played everyone, and thanks for playing!

After an average of the three games, here are the scores:

Winner: skill of a noob - 1700pts
Runner-up: SiderAment - 1200pts
Third: AoW|Nathan - 900pts
Fourth: RoNsTaR - 800pts
Fifth: MMcolacNL - 700pts
