Men of the West Hero Guide

By Immortal^ - 13th September 2008 - 16:44 PM

Many people are ignorant as to which Men of the West heroes they are supposed to use in a certain matchup. Men of The West heroes are easily some of the strongest forces in the game. Elves will give them a run for their money, but they are incomparable to the heroes of the Men of the West.

Some heroes are extremely good in all match ups, such as Aragorn and Faramir, this guide will concentrating on which heroes have the most use in a match up. Aragorn will most likely come into the equation later on in the game, but all heroes are all good choices in certain match ups.

Men of the West Heroes

Boromir

Resource Cost: 1100
Command Points Required: 40
Health: 3200
Shortcut: R

Boromir is useful in every match up. He is good versus tier one heroes because of his knock back ability, allowing you to cause some damage while they are on the ground. At level three, he gains Horn of Gondor, which causes all units in a certain area to freeze and become easy prey for your heroes and/or units. After that, he gains leadership, which gives +50% damage to all units in an area of effect around him. His final power is his ability to increase the experience of units by about half a level.

Theoden

Resource Cost: 1100
Command Points Required: 40
Health: 1600
Shortcut: T

Théoden is good cavalry support hero. He gives 50% damage leadership at level one. Use him with a battalion of Knights or Rohirrim to level up quickly. You could also dismount him and hide him in between your units, particularly archers. Théoden is weak melee-wise, so keep him away from the brunt of an attack. At level five, he can use Glorious Charge, which makes all nearby allied cavalry take only 10% damage. The power is actually very easy to get. All you need to do is sweep the map for a couple Farms and level Théoden extremely fast. Then use Glorious Charge, and kill something expensive.

Faramir

Resource Cost: 1500
Command Points Required: 60
Health: 2250
Shortcut: F

Faramir is an all-purpose support hero, capable of leading infantry, archers, and cavalry. He levels up quickly as well. He is one of the best heroes you can have against monsters. He keeps away from them while being able to give them a good beating. He also kills off heroes while your opponent has no idea why his hero is dying. Later on, Faramir gains a +50% defensive leadership. Use Faramir with Boromir or Théoden to destroy opposing armies. When paired with Boromir, they can both give experience to units, making them even stronger.

Eomer

Resource Cost: 1500
Command Pionts required: 60
Health: 3200
Shortcut: E

Eomer is an excellent harassment hero, especially with Rohirrim, because he makes up for their weak health by giving them a 50% defensive leadership. He is the best anti-cavalry hero that Men of the West has. Eomer can take enemy horses out with Spear Throw, dealing splash damage at range. It works well against any clumped units. His final ability gives him the power to gain resources for every nearby kill. The more expensive the unit, the larger bounty you get!

Éowyn

IPB Image

Resource Cost: 2000
Command Points Required: 60
Health: 2800
Shortcut: Y

Éowyn is the best hero you can get against Mordor. She can take down the Witch-king, and deals an amazing amount of damage to Nazgul. Her Smite ability is deadly combined with Éomer’s Spear Throw. She is also great at harassing. She is fast enough to get away and strong enough to be a nuisance. Her powers are not too useful, but Shield Maiden gives her a defensive buff, which makes her a much more formidable opponent.

Aragorn

IPB Image

Resource Cost: 3000
Command Points Required: 80
Health: 3500
Shortcut: A

Aragorn is necessary in every match up. He is a awesome support hero and can go solo or with other heroes. He can heal allied heroes with his Athelas power. He also has Blade Master, which increases his attack and defense. Use Boromir's Horn of Gondor to stun enemy units, and Aragorn to destroy your opponent’s Fortress with Blade Master. Aragorn is a good counter against other heroes and is very good against buildings.

Gandalf

IPB Image

Resource Cost: 5000
Command Points Required: 100
Health: 4300
Shortcut: G

Gandalf dies rather quickly at level one, but that quickly changes. Wizard Blast is perfect against clumped units and in the front lines of a battle. It kills multiple units and levels him up quickly, becoming the most powerful hero in the game. He gains Lighting Sword at level two, which is good against buildings and high-health units. At level five, he can mount and dismount. At level ten, he acquires Word of Power, which is the best unit-killing power in the game. It will take out almost every single unit in an area the size of your screen. Word of Power also gives a huge amount of power points from all the slaughtered units. Gandalf can take out armies in no time with his deadly powers. Use Gandalf against units while Aragorn goes in to kill the Fort. He is a great support for your any army.
