Overview
The P90 is the start of a new class of weapon called PDWs (Personal Defense Weapons) Used for personal defense by non combat personal such as medics, truck drivers, helicopter pilots, and all others who need a small but powerful weapon. The P90 has a unusual design with the magazine going in the top of the bullpup design.
In Call of Duty 4 the P90 is one of the best weapons in the game, and could be called the most powerful weapon in all but the longest ranged firefights. With the massive magazine, fast rate of fire, respectable range for a SMG, and awesome firepower, the P90 is one of the most well rounded weapons in the game.
The Sights
As always the P90 has three sights; the default sights, the red dot sights, and the ACOG.
Regular Gun SightsThe default sights on the P90 are respectable, but not great. You have a small circle and a line to line up the target in. The sights are open but block what is under the line. Using the default sights, you need to fire in short bursts to keep track of the target. Overall the sights are good but not amazing and if you have access to the Red Dot sight use that.
Red Dot ScopeAs always the red dot sights are really fantastic. They block very little of your vision, and make accurate fire very easy. Still though your need to fire in short bursts to keep control of your recoil, but its not overwhelming. Overall I would use the red dot sights overall others because of the ease of use.
ACOG ScopeThe ACOG on this weapon is rather weak. The recoil is too great for very long ranges and it covers the whole screen. It extends P90 to the extreme range, but it takes out your medium range effectiveness. The recoil makes it difficult to fight at very long ranges and if you don't have Stopping Power it is almost impossible to kill someone at that range. Overall I would use the Red Dot Sight over the ACOG is almost any firefight.
Accuracy
The P90 is very accurate in that you can engage targets at long range, and close. As far as I can tell the bullets have nothing effecting them such as the wind or bullet drop. But then again that might be a problem with the game engine. Basically you put the sights on the chest and fire and you'll hit.
RecoilThe P90's recoil is noticeable at only long ranges and when simply spraying everywhere. When at long ranges you should use short bursts to keep the crosshairs on target. You won't notice the recoil until after the 3rd shot. At close range you should use the sights unless the enemy is with in some 20 feet, or if you have Steady Aim. Past 20 feet the recoil will really start to effect your aiming.
RangeThe Range of the P90 is respectable if not fantastic for a SMG. As a example of its accuracy, is on the map Bloc. Firing in between the two large buildings it is very easy to kill people across from you. If it is difficult to see the target, (i.e if you can't see the enemy because it is covered by the sight.) that is the maximum range of the weapon. However I've had reasonable good chances at killing people at very long ranges by firing single shots.
Targeting
For targeting with the P90 I would recommend that you start by firing at the lower chest and let the recoil bring the bullets up and into the upper chest and hopefully the head. If you start by firing at the head and miss, all of the bullets will go high and over the head.
Attachments
The P90 has one other attachment besides the sights, which would be the silencer.
Attachment 1The silencer for the P90 makes it a powerful stealth weapon. The P90 is very quiet already and with the silencer most people don't listen to it or they think its far away by how quiet it is. The silencer does lower its range and damage, but as a stealth class you shouldn't be getting in to long range fights, and the P90 does more than enough damage with or without the silencer.
Suggested Perks
Okay so here I'll recommend some perks that go well with the P90.
Perk Level 1From the first perk level, I have no recommend perks. Use what you use well because none of them are really good with the P90.
Perk Level 2At the second Perk level I would recommend either Stopping Power or Sleight of Hand. I would use Stopping Power because it makes it a lot easier at long range to kill someone, and in close range fights you just want to do as much damage as possible as quickly as you can. I would use Sleight of Hand because for a SMG the P90 has a rather long reload time. Either perk works well with the P90.
Perk Level 3With the all of the Perks at level three I would use Steady Aim so that at close range it makes it very easy to kill some one. Steady Aim allows you to kill quickly at 30 feet without the waste of ammo that you get with some weapons. Combined with Stopping Power it makes you a force to reckon with on any indoor maps.
