Tip of the Week #100 - The GPS Scrambler

By Chimaera - 14th March 2009 - 19:02 PM

The GPS ability is available only for GLAv and Stealth. Stealth gets it at 3 star, while GLAv gets it at 5 star.

Why we chose this general ability for this TotW? Everyone knows what it does so why should you make a TotW about it?

Mainly for a guide, and for the better uses of it. Most of you probably use it to stealth buses and buggy's because it's a nice sneak attack. But how many of you use them on normal workers? Probably not many. Why workers? Because workers are the best sneak attackers in this game, especially if they're stealth. So, today I'm going to tell you about where you should place your GPS, how it gets the most effective and some other tricks.

Probably a few of you have problems with getting every unit you have stealthed. Not anymore.
Place all your units inside a tunnel, and place the rest, who can't get in anymore right next to the tunnel. Click on the icon, press the hotkey for evacuation and get all the units in and outside your tunnel stealthed at once.

Stealthing workers:

Stealing your own workers can be a great way to surprise your enemy. Think of the 5 star general power Sneak Attack. Pretty much every player wants to kill it immediately as it is a direct threat to his base. But with the stealth workers building a stealth tunnel(Only for stealth general, not for GLAv) There is almost no way to discover the stealth tunnel. It is because there won't be a notice saying: The enemy is using a sneak attack. Neither is the tunnel exposed out in the open, as it is stealthed. Though you have to keep in mind that when your tunnel is finished building the rpg's will become visible, so you have to put them back in lightning fast, or just evacuate everything at that point!
Another thing is that the enemy can see your tunnels for about 1 second when it starts building it. Possible indents can also screw up your surprise, so be careful with the spot you pick for building your tunnels.

Key spots for stealth workers:

  • On TD its always good to get it on the right corner of the map (if you are below spot) or on the left corner of the map. But against GLA its most useful right in the middle of his base, since he won't have any tunnels right there himself.
  • On FE on the other hand there are multiple spots. For example put your worker on a bike and go through the 'impassable areas' on the right archway (another tip about this is posted before).
Go through it with the bike, and build a tunnel which he won't see. Or you can put it on the safe supply, in the left corner so he won't be able to see and you can take over the safe supply and get a little base inside theirs.
