Featured Map Guide: Tournament Rift

By -iceblade^ - 18th March 2008 - 22:55 PM

Tournament Rift is an average-sized map with interesting Tiberium placement with both sides start with a native field, and an expansion nearby to the south. The map is separated by a rift of tiberium that splits the map into two horizontally. There are two fields in the middle, one green, and one blue; the blue field starts out empty and grows over time, making it key for a late-game economy boost. Finally, two Tiberium Spikes lie close to each base, guarded by a garrisonable hangar, and further south, two more Spikes add more money to whoever can capture them and hold them for the course of the match. With a lot of money, it is clear this map is suited for big battles.

On this map, expansion is key, whoever manages to hold more fields than their opponent usually secures a win. Expect most of the fighting to take place around the top middle Tiberium Field. This map is very good for harassment, as units can be sent to the corners and snuck into an opponent's base with relative ease - be on the lookout for Attack Bikes, Stealth Tanks, Masterminds, and Engineer-APCs at all stages of the match.
