"This was an excellent game between Pilbots and Apollo on Tournament Rift. Both players used solid operational build orders but Apollo's was a little more economy heavy as he produced his refineries before placing a barracks. There wasn't much harassment early in this game a single lightning spike at Pilbots base pretty much summed it up.

However that's not to say this game was not without action. After both players took control of their lower second field Apollo raced with a spider over to the center and Pilbots got there soon after. The game evolved into a back and forth high tech battle with tripods and devastators being used by Apollo and SEs and Mammoths being used by Pilbots. The micro in this part of the game was superb as the map began to run dry of tiberium and units became more valuable. Pilbots began to throw orcas into the mix and Apollo continues his valiant attack and defense, recovering tripod after tripod with assimilators in the face of Pilbots' steely determination to win."

I don't think they played so well. Those tiberium spikes were free for taking at anytime and well you mentioned micro? I didn't see it.

Not to say I was unsatisfied with it-- expert replays are always interesting to watch-- but I'd have to say that neither of them seemed really on top of their game in this one. They seemed to have myopia, being focused so hard on the battle at the upper middle field, that they largely lost sight of the rest of the battlefield.

On this map, control of the tib spikes is paramount. That's just basic and could have won the game for either of them, that's almost like a free permanent field.

But more than that, and something that I was very surprised to see in an expert game, was the fact that the lower expansions were left completely alone, all game. What was up with that?

From a micro perspective I have to say that this seemed kind of "ehh." It was an attrition meatgrinder up top, and interesting from the perspective of how they fought that battle, but otherwise I wasn't feeling it quite as much as I did the previous TA Nod mirror, which opened my eyes.
