as the British when i fight the Spanish since British hussars are stronger than any kind of Spanish cav (lancers, hussars) i use them as anti-cav instead of musketeers. then i mass longbows to wipe out their infantry and add in a few rockets. what do you think of this?
The only issue I see with your plan is if he goes for Rodeleros. If they close with your longbows you're toast. Given enough of them, they could kill everything you've got. Other than that, it sounds fine to me.
but british hussars are the strongest cav besides french cuirassiers so i dont see the need to get pikes/muskets against for the spanish cav because hussars kill them. also, do rodeleros actually kill hussars? because i thought the hussars would win but just take a lot of damage and are more expensive. idk tbh tho
Are you playing normal supremacy or treaty? And is it vanilla or TAD that your playing?
Brit hussars are strong late game yeah, but rods still beat them pretty easily and fighting cav vs cav makes no sense really, you should always make the correct counter to what he's making.

im talking about the original version-ive never played the asian dynasties. and im playing just the normal scenario.

idk i like to use british hussars as anti-cav against all teams besides the french because hussars kill cavalry and longbows wipe out everything that counters hussars and other ranged units. then i throw in some rockets and mortars, etc.
i dont like to make muskets or too much infantry since spanish lancers are really great against them. on the other hand, other cavalry is a great counter to lancers. but im no pro so idk how legit this is.
Hussars are a alrite meat shield yeah, but don't use them as anti cav.
If you don't like using muskets vs his lancers, then use dragoons. They counter lancers much better than hussars and are cheaper.
Don't rule out muskets though, they do ok vs lancers if you have enough of them, if his lancers reach your lbows you wont stand any chance at beating them.
Use musks vs heavy infantry (rods/pike) and cavalry (except lancers)
Use hussar to kill non-heavy infantry (skirms/xbows), lancers and artillery
Hussars are better versus lancers than musks cost-wise because of their bonus against all infantry units.
Spain player will do typical rod/lancer combo in age 3, which is uber cav killer and uber infantry killer so you need your best all around infantry (musks) and best all around cavalry (hussar) He will be moving his army at 6+ speed, so you need units with good melee attack. If he goes heavy on lancers as much or more than infantry units, perhaps throw in some dragoons as well.
You are talking about rockets.. so are you playing No rush?
If you play rush you should on lower ranks for can vs inf, musks to block the enemies cav and goons to kill enemy cav. On higher levels you should go goon, longbow and maybe some hussar if he goes heavy on skirm.
