I've noticed since I'm playing both games again that even when Zero Hour lags, the game runs much smoother than CCG. I feel like beyond any balance changes, if someone can find out why ZH runs smoother than CCG it would make the game much more enjoyable. And when I say smoother I mean it would be faster as well so players would have to be faster with their micro. It seems like this would be possible maybe because of all the great work ppl have done with GenTool and CnC-Online.

This is one reason I kind of find zero hour more enjoyable at the moment.

Also, I'm going to be looking at the map editor and trying to make some maps for CCG that are interesting and balanced.

I guess, I must disappoint you. They worked hard on the multiplayer performance for ZH as regarding the fw and lagging issues they faced on CCG while develpin/fixing the network.

A patch, certainly, would help.

I assume ZH has simply different parameters. CCG is more precise, so it waits for the response of your opponent. While ZH runs more smooth, but units might be killed because the command came too late.
You always have to find a good compromise between those.

I think that are the parameters for the local network: (f.e. gameranger)
; Network timing settings. Don't mess with these unless you know what you're doing!
; If you are tempted to mess with these, please let me know. Bryan x36810
; This does not imply that I know what I'm doing.
NetworkFPSHistoryLength = 30 ; The number of fps history entries.
NetworkLatencyHistoryLength = 200 ; The number of ping history entries.
NetworkRunAheadMetricsTime = 5000 ; The number of miliseconds between run ahead metrics things

Either way, CCG has a far better counter system than ZH does. Because of this, I will always prefer CCG.
