In response to this, I'd like to ask the community a question. Do you guys enjoy the current state of KW gameplay? I'm talking about the whole game, except for some people's behaviour, because that's not possible to fix. Is it enjoyable for you? Does tankspam and so called "epic abuse" really ruin it?
IMO KW is a really great game. Gameplay's deep enough, requires thinking. Bugs are kind of spoiling it, and so are some highly imbalanced matchups. But that doesn't make the game unplayable, and it can be lots of fun.
Sorry for sounding like an EA employee here, I was just being curious about this.
yes i like current gameplay and think its enjoyable overall
but i think the game has the potential to be -significantly- deeper, varied and more intense with fixes to the bugs, imbas and a couple of tweaks
I agree with cnc though I am not an expert on what the tweaks should be I would hazard a guess stating some of the units need to be nerfed and the initial build time of the refineries reduced a bit. I also think the Nod bikes and the BH Flame tanks are too OP.
I really enjoy the game, even though most peoples behaviour online surely scares away many.
Agreed with cncs statement. However I dont think a huge changelist is necessary, it would be enough to fix the greatest issues atm and get rid of bugs. Which surely would be doable in 10 months... not sure whether we should give up hope by now and start to realize it was just a damn rumour spread by EA to keep people interested in the game.
Being the Admin of this section and all, I really have no option here, now do I?
Being serious, I think the game is great. There are some small annoyances like the bugs (damn emp phasefield bug ), and a couple of small imbalances, but it's still enjoyable. I really think that the 1.03 thread is too much, some of the people act like it's unplayable. But lets face it, 1.02 is overall a pretty damn good patch, especially if you take a look at the state of the game prior to this patch (1.00 Purifers/Mechas/Zocom+BH manspam, 1.01 Dev/corr rush).
I like the gameplay and balance is pretty good since almost all sides are useable in high level play. Only thing is kw is so inactive i cant be bothered to start it up and wait for some1 good to play vs me... so i usually end up playing ra3 automatch instead eventho i like kw more.

It just needs some love, they should let a private company patch it if they carnt be arsed to do it. I think if a patch was released activity would increase.
To play devil's advocate, i voted no. Yes KW atm is fairly well balanced and it's somewhat fun to play but having played it for so long it is getting stale, there just isn't enough variation and it's begging for a patch to at least change up the gameplay a little bit.
For the moment i'm playing HoN until dragon age origins comes out then i will be all over that, i can't see myself picking up KW very often until there is a patch and even then only if it opens the game up a bit with maybe a shakeup of the eco.
P.S. don't start talking balance in this thread we have enough of that.
P.P.S in response to perfi's question i'm not against tankspam i've just been playing this game for a long time and the only game that has ever been played for a truely extended period of time by me is Baldur's Gate 2.

I agree with what foundry is saying, it is a good game but after a while you get sick of the same old strats over and over again. There needs to be some variation in gameplay.
After a total of roughly 1000 games I quit TW because I got KW and found the additional units etc much more fun. Im currently at 300 games. Lets see how long the fun will last
The game play is good and it's fairly balanced overall I find but certain match ups need to be fixed... But when you have 9 teams some are always going to beat others....
when i compare tw1.09 and kw its not the additional units that i find interesting
its the way they sculpted the gameplay differently to 1.09
can you imagine merely making harvs 25% weaker alone has brought in so much more variety to gdi mirrors - with lots of orca/pit/pred micro in kw as opposed to boring as shit mindless 3-4wf preds/rocket spam with lame ass apc engi'ing in tw1.09
perhaps the question to ask here is- will plain good faction balance actually make the game more interesting? for me... tbh i dont care too much about faction balance - infact most factions are pretty damn 'balanced' vs eachother already.
if we're going to have 9 factions almost perfectly balanced against eachother, but with just 1-2 cookie cutter strats each with a few cheese tactics/rushes... like it kinda is atm, its gets stale pretty soon for me.
i care more about 'unit balance'. imo having more viable unit combos adds depth and variety to the game.
i care more about the options i have at every stage in the game - how many viable permutations/combinations can i make off those 10 units available for my faction? does each one have its own unique strengths and weaknesses? which combo would work in which sort of scenario?
i like making smart choices from a large given number of options and being rewarded for it. i just think kw has alot more potential in this regard, and with a couple of simple tweaks itd be possible to tap into it.
if you ask me, current gdi mirrors are already pretty damn close to this target. Now lets say we buff up the usefulness of stuff like zonetroopers, commandos, rigs and toned down shit like op juggs and marvs in gdi mirrors... itd be the ultimate matchup imo. ideally id want to see every matchup play out to that degree of intensity and variety.

Faction balance can be perfect with one useful unit per faction. Geme will be boring as hell... but who cares.

Yes. Thats why "perfectly balanced game" can suck in terms of fun.

you don't love 2wfscorpsspam?

10 units, 3 of them useless, another 3 extremely situational, 2 useful only vs certain factions... GG!

There are tons of unused potential...

Don't you love Nod mirrors? (142344352.5 Scorps + Redeemer)
No I don't like it. Its imbalanced and I can't stand it.
I've already vowed never to play it again until 1.03
Yeah pretty much same story here for me lol
KANEASD i agree! Its not just about faction balance, its just...well, boring half the time since its the same crap over and over and any deviation is GG.
