Getting Call of Duty 2

So I have Call of Duty 4 and 5 both on the PS3. Before Modern Wafare 2 comes out, I might get some of the other Cod games, but I'm really looking to get Call of Duty 2 since I've seen and heard some great reviews about it. The only problem is that it is only on PC and Xbox 360. So since I'm used to PS3 controls for about 2 years, Xbox 360 controls will probably be better and easier for me to use, especially since I do have a Xbox 360, played it before, and still use it sometimes. But- even though I don't know PC controls and I'm not used to it (I only have like 2 or 3 games I've played on it, and no FPS), I'm pretty sure it's free to play online (right?) and on Xbox 360, you have to play a lot for online. (That's why I like PS3.) So which one do you think I should get? Easier controls? (Xbox 360) or free online play (PC)
thanks.

Also; Are the graphics the same or is one a little better than the other? And is there a difference between regular and game of the year edition?

cod2 graphics are still harder for my computer to run then cod4s on full. Umm tbh there are not many pc servers left for cod2, to sya the community is still alive for cod2 would eb a stretch as well. The game is insanely easy to pick up and get good at on the pc. Becoming a mid level player happens ina matter of weeks.

Yes that's the other thing I'm worried about. There's probably more people online in Xbox then PC. I'm gonna look up more info thanks
