i just wanted to know what faction campaign is hardest for you.
Mines russia because you start of with crappy units, crap economy and large boarders to defend with your crappy units, which you cant get get enough of because of your crappy economy, so you cant expand fast, so you have to keep using crappy units explained.
I've only played through with the French and English so far... found the french difficult at first because despite numerous attempts to stop everyone from going to war against me I quickly found myself fighting most of europe with the exception of Spain and Sweden! Oh and lets not forget the fact that the berbers and Pirates seem to gravitate towards all my trade routes. Ok so the berbers are more of annoyance than threat.
If you try to keep all your starting territories, then I would probably say that Spain is one of the toughest nations to start out as... Several of the starting regions are simply way to spread out and inaccessible from you main region, and you can't get reforcements to reach them quickly. And with however many opertunistic smaller nations there are surrounding those said regions, they make such easy targets, that you simply can't effectively defend them. And if you do, it will only be to the detriment of any pushes you intend to accomplish towards meeting your goals in other areas. It went so badly my first round as Spain, while I did defend them, it got to the point where my economy literally stalled, so I decided to start over. Sold those useless isolated territories to get a higher starting wealth... Invested it into my infrastructure/economy and built up my military in a much more manageable way allowing me to focus my efforts more effectively. Only then was I able to make headway playing as Spain. So yeah... I think Spain is one of the most difficult nations to play as if you try to keep all your starting regions.

If anyone has played the Iroquois campaign the European factions are all a joke to play in comparison. If you aren't careful you can have the US, Huron, French, Dutch, and Cherokee on the attack within the first 2 turns. I have had to restart that campaign 3 times already...
Every other German Nation hates your guts except for Austria (you start allied), and if you don't want to get into a fight with Prussia you'll have to expand South (i actually managed to conquer all of italy)
And of course you don't have a port unless you capture the Netherlands before the french do, otherwise you need Vienna to connect your ports in the mediterranean to your captital :v

I've tried Sweden, which i found quite easy because you have only one front to take care of, Russia and Poland are very dispatched and not that powerfull...
And now, with very hard/very hard, i'm playing France, and i find it really hardcore since half of Europe AND america is at war with me, without even doing one agressive move... Spain may be a powerfull ally, but they are really too stucked in the corner of the map and really no help against Prussia and Austria. Algeria has got a lot of rebellions and even after i tamed it, i got overrun while attacking marroco by a random barbarian army... I'm at turn 20 and there is no borderlines left between France and my ennemies (my minor nations allies got overrun by a lesser force... damn noobs ), even if i took Amsterdam... It's exciting, but i don't know if it's possible to make it
