I have had this game since it came out, and I am pretty sure I understand it pretty well except for one little thing: Muskets. Especially in the late game.
Seems like everything counters them: skirms, heavy cavalry, arty, you name it. The only time they "counter" anything is when stupidly attacked by cavalry, which is easily avoided. Are muskets an all around fighting unit that has no real counters? Can they battle skirms late game? I am now playing the British, and upgrading muskets all the way to redcoat always seemed like a waste, but I know I am missing something. Thanks guys. |

Muskets are pretty ok against everything. They suck vs skirms, and arty. Everything else, is ok.

ya I guess they can fight everything, even skirms. (without protection) I will try and eperiment later game. I guess early on they are the only unit that is not extremely vulnerable. thay can kill x-bows alright, again only without a meatshield.

You got it. Also, if you can get them in closer, then you can mele units like crossbows, and they will win.

I like muskets because they don't get raped by calv, but can still fight decently vs cbows, and light infantry. If you just make light infantry, and your opponent gets calv, your skrewed.

You know what i've always wondered?
Why people call it calv. It's cavalry, the l is quite obviously before the v, what's up with calv? It's either cav, cavalry, horsies, neigh!-mobiles, or cavzorsss!11one!1!11, surely? Locked (but not really, i just made this topic have new life) |

Most ppl pronounce it as calvary. I even pronounce it that way, however I know the spelling.

CrazyWarlord, you're British, the way we pronounce things, and the way Americans pronounce things are significantly different.
I'd just think people would write cav, since they should know the spelling. It's not like calv is even easier to write than cav  |
