I am told that new smurfs are again not attaining any rank. If you are experiencing this please post the exact nickname(s) you are having trouble with and let me know when you created that nickname.
If anyone knows what causes this (certain symbols, letters or time of creation), please post it. I've created several accounts and none of them can rank.
this issue still exists? my friend's smurf has no rank - K1r1l.

Sorry guys, this issue still exists and, personally, I do not believe that anyone is working to fixing it at the moment. Accounts created after about the end of last year do not gain rank. The account is created and present on the Game Spy statistics server but it will not find its way onto the ladder (it will not show anywhere on the GameSpy ladder site and a search for it will fail). The same problem exists in all three games that use that ranking system and run on the same servers (Kane's Wrath, Tiberium Wars and Red Alert 3). I believe the fault is purely with GameSpy and not with EA.
Accounts that have certain characters in the name ('<' and '&') have never gained rank or any statistics at all.
