xProphet i always thought it is about commitment and desire for the help in some fields like organization etc. so who cares if he got below 50 posts or below 10 tags , maybe expirence of moderating or writing skills are important here. btw its just weird forum with below 50 people have 10 mods but w/e.

when it comes to grefix staff, experience (at tags) is what counts over commitment, desire to help, etc.
how the hell can you expect members here for years to respect some new guy that has 20 posts and has a badge? or to take anyone who hasn't even made 10 tags serious when he critiques/mods?
thats when GR went downhill... when we started making shitty taggers and inexperienced people staff and admins.

1) There is alot more to graphic design than 'tags'.
2) What experience do you have that makes you lack respect for others? (i.e. think your better than they are)
3) In what way does the amount of posts on a forum relate to the skill/experience of another fellow designer?
1) There is alot more to graphic design than 'tags
Indeed there is, let me direct you to the drawing section, oh wai-
I don't know if you've noticed that, but the vast majority of the people who come here makes tags rather than drawings. And don't get me wrong, I love to draw/paint. But this is a forum directed towards digital art, mostly small art (tags).
You can see this by looking at the tutorials posted on this site, the competitions/tournaments that are hosted on the site along other things.
That's why having experience in tags is so important to artists on this site like it is for Strategy Specialists to know the game they are specialists for.
3) In what way does the amount of posts on a forum relate to the skill/experience of another fellow designer?
Maybe not the skill is affected by the amount of posts someone has, but posting regurarly shows that the person is a member who continiously visits the section. After some time, that person will have gathered up knowledge of both the section and the people whom visit it.
And if someone comes along who has just been here for maybe 1 - 2 weeks sees the staff drive and thinks "Hey, I'd like one of those badges" and joins staff with limited or no experience of either the section nor the people who comes there. This will end up bad (I'd say in 8/10 cases), it has happend several times before and it will continue to happend. People who sign up to staff, gets bored with it and leaves.
And with more experience of the section, the staff member can release content that he/she knows that the section wants/needs, he can moderate the section properly (Like knowing which posts should be invisibilised etc).
1) There is alot more to graphic design than 'tags'.
but this is a tagging section....

i've been involved in tagging for over 4 years now and am a well-known person in the grefix world. i've been staff here for over 2 years, get invited multiple times to rejoin because of my experience, and run my own forum. i refuse to respect a person with 40 posts who comes, gets a staff badge, and starts deleting my posts. so fuck you.

posts =/= skill/experience; however, you need a high number of posts (at least 500, on most forums it's about 1,500+) to become staff. you need to be a known person around the forum and have good relations with other members and clearly, someone with 10,000 posts knows a lot more people and has a stronger relationship with the members than someone with 40.

i was wondering this for some time , why some "Members for years" are not mods ? You xpro , hygen or sur . Whats up with that ?
i was staff for over 2 years here. i was invited several times to come back recently but i hate it.
In case you dont know, I went down the same road xPro. I was a staff member, hell I go all the way back when this site was called cncreplays.com ..... I grew to hate power abusing/backscratching/circlejerking admins who basically threw out their opinions and lashed out if you dared disagree with them. I'll admit that I started flaming the entire mod community including the sites founder Darky, which in turn got me banned from this site for "Life".
LoL, in the long run I could care less about what went down years ago, I just learned to accept that everyone is entitled to their opinions, even 12 yr old kids who decided to raise their hand and say "hey pick me! I wanna be a moderator!"
Btw Nug I personally feel Hyggan makes a good point about this being a "tag thread".

lol i got banned for life as well when i started flaming TDA, agm, darky, and made a mess in the entire staff forums. but i got the hookupzzzz.
I cant help but ask: Are you and Hyggan on a plot to bring this section down for some reason? I mean, i see your concerns and i actually agree on much but yal are really not making it any better by bickering like this. Or bringing up all these negative points. Rather making it worse, causing tension, frustration, etc. I can see this causing members to leave or stop caring enough to keep this section up. I thought it had a chance for a minute but now... again... IDK.
YOU ARE KINDA CAUSING A MESS AGAIN!!!

no don't clean it. that's one of the worst things you could do... deleting posts just makes the people want to repost it and only expand into other threads. that's why i've started trolling in a ton of threads.. because all my original posts got deleted.
Reading these posts, some of them are actually legitimate concerns (tbh not really, they're people disliking the staff but they sound like legitimate concerns) however the sotw thread is the wrong place to discuss it.
So here they all are to discuss away.
Now for my 2 cents...
You don't imho need to be good at art to be on staff on a gfx forum. Take the past 3 LAs (me, Sebra and Arion) we were not great at art, in fact Arion mentioned he has never created a tag before. Yet when he was active he was a good staffer because he had good organisational skills and ideas on how to make the forum successful.
And even though it is a bit hypocritical to critique others work when you yourself haven't produced anything (or anything good) you can still do it from an aesthetic pov i.e. does it look good instead of looking for the technical ability in it. That's how I tried to do it and how Arion did it because we were far from expert.
Whilst ideally it would be wonderful to have staff members who'd been active in the section for years it just isn't possible because most of those people have moved on. Or don't want to be on staff due to other staff members or are banned from staff. So the only people who are left are those with 20 posts who just notice the site has a graphics section because of the staff drive. So if they sound half way like they're competent they get hired.
And rofl (in a good way) at Sur's "YOU ARE KINDA CAUSING A MESS AGAIN!!!".

Haha. Quality post dude. You sound angry
Chill out. Your taking this little bit of banter between us far too seriously. I'm only pulling your leg mate. Yanking your chain. Don't bite so easily.
You don't like me cos I don't know people in the graphics forums? because I have a low post count and a badge? I only joined to help hive something back to GR, since I download replays and such, but have never contributed to help in anyway. This is my way of giving something back.
And for the record, I have never deleted anyones posts.
2) What experience do you have that makes you lack respect for others? (i.e. think your better than they are)
I can;t believe you asked this question Go look back in the Artist Central at past threads (go back in time)

l2moderate
No mod is meant to "delete" posts period, that causes problems for actually being able to moderate properly (i.e. no evidence) Invisible posts by all means (and pm user to say why), but never delete.

Commendable. That's what staff is being about, giving something back.

No matter how good someone is or how much experience/skill they have (or post count lol), it doesn't give them the right to automatically lack respect for another member.
Because I have a 'badge' and a low post count, some members automatically think I don't deserve/shouldn't be here. Even though they know nothing about me, my skill/experience or what I can bring to the table. It kind of alienates new members, particularly those who are new to staff.
Like I said, I'm here to give something back to GR.
I agree that total bashing is wrong and i agree this low post number is anoying . Like last times , i am not sure but Nug or r4ku not imporant who actualy i didnt care but he says "you are this dude who is doing all the same thing evry time " or something like that "i mean come on he was here for week and saying like he is here longer is just wrong and over reaction. Anyway conclusion of this little bit of argument is . Both sides need to chill out . New sherfis chill out a bit in some parts so old memebers can know them better and vice versa while they do moding stuff , organizing , writing w/e they do. Give yourself time guys . In this whole below 10 tags , yes well ...dont expect to gain respect becouse you have artist badge. There is always need to prove yourself. But tbh i didnt saw below 10 tags doing reviews or something like that about tags . For old members i got this . You are atacking wrong guys here. It is not that they took badge someone gave that powers to them so go bash that someone .
oh my. that might be worse than <50 posts staff.
