Killstreak question

I am getting confused with these. Normally it works i kill a few people without dying, use killstreaks to unlock more killstreaks, play on after that.

However, on occassion my killstreak rewards don't increase a kill-streak, like if i've died. (i.e, get harrier strike, died, get another two kills, deploy airstrike, no missile or anything for the extra kills...) Or am i just being paranoid?

I do not know for sure if killstreaks increase your killstreak i.e: you get 11 kills, call in an AC-130 get 14 kills, I don't think you will get the Nuke, even if you have it unlocked, again I am guessing I do not know for sure as I said before, hope this helps

Killstreaks rewards do not count towards your killstreak.

Also, if you die, your killstreak resets.

To wareagle: that's rubbish iirc. I can happily use a predator missile to unlock harrier strike... Hence why im confused n1qshok.gif.

I know air-drop rewards don't count towards killstreak, allied or enemy, but i still think there's a discrepency somewhere...

5:30-45. Clearly gains the next streak by using the one before. (ac130 by using harrier in this case)

Then after that, clearly uses ac130 to unlock the tactical nuke.

Back to square one for me! >.<

Actually, Killstreak rewards does indeed grant access to higher levels, but as long as it's on the same life you used it.

For example, my 'Noob Tube Whoring' class which I use when im pissed off has Predator Missile, Precision Airstrike and Harrier (to take full advantage of Danger Close Pro), if I go up to 5 and use the missile, which scores a kill, I can use the Airstrike. If it also scores a kill, I can use the Harrier, which, if I had higher level rewards, would count towards them....

...however, if I die at any moment the Harrier is in the air, and he manages to kill 5 enemies, I won't get the Predator. Same if I suicide. So, the KSR works towards your current life, not the ones after.

Ok. Thanks.
What if you don't use the killstreak until your next life?
I.e, in your example, they don't carry over because you summoned it in your previous one, if you see what i'm saying?

Now that you said that you're right... I don't really know it seems like it only doesn't count sometimes.

Some people are confused here, let me try to explain it.

Killstreak rewards DO count towords your next killstreak if you call it in on the same life you gained it. So say your killstreaks are UAV, Predator Missile, and a Chopper... You get your 5th kill in a row, call your Predator in, and get 3 kills. Those three kills will be enough to get you the Chopper.

However, now say you get your 5th kill, DON'T call it in, and you die before you get to 8 kills. Now after you respawn and you call in your Predator, say you get three kills with it again. You WILL NOT get a UAV this time.

Hope this makes sense.

@Fender thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't aware that when you respawn and use killstreak abilities from your last life, it doesn't contribute to building a new killstreak.

In a nutshell: Using a Killstreak in same life you achieve it will give you more Killstreaks. Whereas if you die/new round starts then you will not.

This is a balance mechanism for SnD/Sab games so that A-holes dont start with an airstrike, kill everyone at beginnign of round and then get another airstrike tongue.gif

Actually, IW put a timer on airstrikes and Predator missiles now, so you can't use them as soon as a round starts and kill the whole team, you have to wait something like 10 seconds before you call them in.

But we pretty well just established that they do.

What killstreaks do you guys use? I can't really decide which do the most damage for the least number of kills yet...

It's a bit hard to start getting killstreak rewards because my first one is the Harrier Jet/7 kills. The Harriers tend to get a kill or two before the hovering one comes in, and for some reason it doesn't get shot down as quickly as Attack Helicopters. I then hope that gets four kills to get the AC-130. With that, I proceed to bomb the map into Elder Scrolls: Oblivion to get 14 kills for a Tactical Nuke.

Interesting question, let me clear this up.

I have been playing team deathmatch today and my KS rewards are

Pave Low (9 Kills)
Chopper Gunner (11 Kills)
Tactical Nuke (25 Kills)

Normally If I was to get to 9 kills without dieing the Pave Low comes in and does it's usual method and fly around and kill people, however the kills you get from the Pave Low ARE counted towards your Kill Streak so you could just sit back and watch TV (hide) and let your Pave Low get you to those two extra kills so then you really can PWN BITCHES with the chopper gunner biggrin.gif and hopefully get to 25 or near to 25.

It's a really good KS Rewards list ^^^ I have used the nuke 3 times, and on the second time, you unlock a nice little title wink.gif

Taking the Nuke as a killstreak is pretty worthless. I mean, the amount of time you actually get to use it does not justify taking up one of three slots. It would be one thing if you had 4 or 5 slots, but with only 3, it's just a waste.

The Predator Missile is probably the most underrated killstreak reward. You can very easily get 2 kills with it, and most often 3 or more depending on the game type. If you are playing an Objective game like Headquarters or Domination where you'll usually and large groups together, the Predator can literally dominate the game. With it only being a 5 killstreak too, it is really easy to aquire. I would highly suggest setting the Predator as your first killstreak, as the first step to getting your extended streak.

After that, I like to take the Emergency Air Drop. You get 4 Care Packages, and they are almost always loaded with at least one higher streak, and almost always give another Predator (another easy multi-kill). It is pretty common to get a Pave Low, Predator, Chopper Gunner, and maybe one crappy thing like a UAV or Ammo. But the two Helicopters are MORE than enough to justify taking this streak.

I then like to take the Chopper Gunner as my third streak. Getting anything above an 11 kill streak is pretty rare (unless you camp the map out the ass, which just isn't very fun). I like to take the Chopper over the AC-130 just because you don't have to switch your cannons and there is no overheat. Just keep pounding away with the 40mm on the Chopper (which is the most effective cannon on the AC-130 anyway). and you just rack up kills with ease. The AC-130 isn't a bad choice, and it does seem to be a big more intimidating (and it does kill quicker with its cannons) but like I said, it's just a bit harder to use, the 105mm and 40mm cannons are the only cannons worth using, because we all know the 25mm is worthless.

tl;dr: Predator > Emergency Drop > Chopper Gunner. Game over.

Cheers guys. Basically if I'm looking to get a nuke I'm thinking
Heli -> chopper gunner -> nuke,
and if I'm looking to just play normally
predator -> emergency/pavelow -> chopper gunner

Well, I had a Nuke yesterday. In ground war. 9 kills. I´ll tell you guys how I got it.

The map was Quarry, with all the rocks in a cubeshape. I had my ACR with Stopping Power Pro, Scavenger Pro and Steady Aim Pro. I went for a flank and came in a very nice position. Got my first 5 kills, Predator Missile. Made 3 kills with it. 3 kills away from a Chopper Gunner. I started to move forward, killing 2 snipers and finally a dude who was doing nothing. w00t! Chopper Gunner. This was the most crazy run with that chopper I´ve ever had. I made 18 kills with it. How? It was just hanging above the spawn of the enemy. Lame? Yes. Care? No. I mean, I don't fly the chopper, AI does. I was just lucky. So 29 killstreak, and I got my Nuke. BAM! Nine kills. Killstreak 38. Didn't manage that it CoD 4 or 5. Was pretty happy after that game. biggrin.gif

To add to this, stuff you get from a supply crate does not count towards your streak. This is why I was confused.

^ Yup, that's true.

I've also noticed that if you call in a supply crate it basically cancels your streak. eg. If you get 4 calls, call in a supply crate, get a uav and call it in, any more kills you get wont count towards your killstreak.
