Hi all, while I've been playing CoD4 for nearly 2 years, I've often used both the M40 and the R700. The stats say that the R700's damage is higher than the M40 one's. But if I use SP (in Softcore), the M40 seems to be superior, not only in accuracy, but also in power. The R700's apparantly higher damage is actually the only reason you use it instead of the M40. So is there any point in using the R700?
Well I use stopping power on both guns, and the only time I don't 1-hit kill someone with the R700 is pretty much if I shoot them in the foot or if they have juggernaut. M40 is better accuracy and less recoil, etc...but you don't really have to worry about recoil and accuracy if you can hit the guy because 95% of the time he'll drop with one shot. I prefer R700, but if you use ACOG M40 is way better. But it's up to you
in pub play, the m40a3 is the best sniper rifle, as the r700 has 30% more sway. That translates to a longer time to steady a shot when holding your breath, and less time with that shot 100% steady before you have to catch your breath.
In the end it is your choice. I always pick the m40a3
I think M40 is the best choice for both hardcore N core, since I usually have stopping power on my sniper classes I kill with one bullet, so the extra damage doesn't really help me, but the extra accuracy do.
