In a recent interview with Infinity Ward staff: Ryan, Vince and Mackey, it has been revealed that all multiplayer matches played in Modern Warfare 2 will be limited to a maximum of nine players per team. It seems, that all game modes and current maps released with the upcoming game have been tailored around the concept of 9 versus 9 game play.
GeneralClean: With the new IW.net, how many players can it support at one time with each server set-up, 8 vs 8, 12 vs 12, 16 vs 16, and how much bandwidth are we talking about per player basis, Upload and Download? Mackey-IW: The max number of players on all platforms are 1v1 through 9v9. This is the number of players we focused on when we were balancing map size, perks, classes, challenges, etc.Source: Bestbuy
This has raised some concerns with PC clan gamers, as the majority of clans would have more than 18 people willing to play per match. However in the face of all this protest, Infinity Ward have kept true, maintaining that this and the IW.Net system are not for profit making schemes, they are however built to enhance the game.
frzg: Was the decision to create IWNet for PC a profit based decision or a 'genuine improvement of the game'? Vince-IW: To improve the game, it actually cost us money to develop it so the there isn't a profit motive.Source: Bestbuy

As much as I am sceptical about Battlefield games (dislike the jittery player movement and bugs), BC2 actually looks a lot better than MW2's multiplayer now.
I think this part is really a small gripe overall. Competitively, no match has 18 players. Lets be honest really. A game with over 16 players in it becomes a clusterfuck at times, I'm upset they took away the option to have a clusterfuck, but its a small issue to complain about really.

I can see where you're coming from, but the casual gamer prefers bigger matches than this. Especially with the speed of MW.
18 players max is not much but is okay since yes it becomes too chaotic with too much players, on the other side no dedicated servers is not. BF:BC2 for me.
I like the way you completely skipped over the introduction of the "improved multiplayer" experience for PC MW2, the small fact PC gamers will also now get 5 second host migration, stopping the gameplay while this occurs.
honestly this 9v9 max isnt bad, i consider anything above 6v6 shit anway. playing TDM with 60 players in cod4, seriously? i am sorry, i still have nightmares of grenades launchers and martyrdom spam and the enevitable airstrikes. and mw2 seems to fix this abit not only by 9v9 limit but with some diffrent perks aswell, yay
also personaly i play rts games and i do love the automatch and chat lobby thing they have and now mw2 is going to have that too, i assume? that is great, i realy realy hate dedicated servers, they are so impractical. however that means its p2p and honestly, p2p for rts works, but for an fps? there will probably be too much lag unless they realy have a good p2p system
as for no mods, that just sucks they should allow them. even tho i do not play mods, there is no denying that a mod can become a success like say what happened with counterstrike or dota
also they say no console ingame aswell, well i gues thats good, it always led to abuse. they will never be able to prevent people from using macros and mouse full auto thing tho
so i dont know, to me after some thought it doesnt look bad. what im more annoyed of is the price and concern about iws ability to actualy balance stuff... cause cod4 sucked in balance thats a fact. yes i know, the mods!, but mw2 no mods....

and no dedi servers is a small issues, no leaning, no lanning, no record, no modding................

I never said that was a small issue or even mentioned it at all. But yes, there can still be records or matches. Have none of you experienced the other games without dedicated servers. Pretty much everything on your console.
You still have the ability to invite friends to your game, you still get ranks and whatnot. The main reason for no Dedicated Servers is to stop pirating. If people would stop doing that, there would be no reason to have DRM, Always Online or now losing this system.

The player killed the game.
Bestbuy interview, pc players asked "can we record matches" well frzg said it much more bluntly, but basically IW said no, with out recording of matches you can't run the game in leagues......at all........
FYI...what version of the game was the first to be pirated. o wait xbox360 owners pirated the game, o boy pc player sure did ruin it for everyone......... PCs are not the only system that can use pirated software.
