Guy on another forum wants a new PC so he can play 1080p HD movies but still be able to do other things like unrar files without any adverse effect on the playback.

He was looking at this PC until it went up in price so is now having second thoughts.

The thing is the guy seems adamant he wouldn't be able to build the PC himself and that buying from a big name chain is the cheapest option where I always though it was the other way around, big name chains were more expensive.

So can anyone show as good a spec PC for the same or less price but not sourced from a big chain.

He doesn't need an expensive pc to just play HD movies and download stuff.

Here is a pc which can even do more, it has a quadcore so enough "space" to process anything simultaneously.

Here's a reasonable build:

Case, xigmatek asgard: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=CA-002-XG
Power Supply, antec basiq 550: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=CA-111-AN
Motherboard, asus m4a785td-v evo: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=MB-355-AS
Processor, Athlon X4 620: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=CP-258-AM
Processor cooler, Zalman 8700: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=HS-034-ZA
Memory, OCZ Gold 2x2GB 1600mhz: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=MY-180-OC
Videocard, Sapphire 5750: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=GX-217-SP
Harddrive, Samsung F3 1TB: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=HD-082-SA
Optical drive, Bluray burner: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=CD-100-LG
Operating system, windows 7 premium: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....555&subcat=

Total: £722.90

Instead of a bluray burner, you could take a bluray reader and dvd burner combo or just a dvd burner which will dramatically decrease the price:
bluray reader+dvd-burner: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....&subcat=314
dvd-burner: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....&subcat=951
If he wants to play games, he'd better take an 5850 instead of a 5750, they're very scarce and very good, so you need to preorder: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist....sortby=priceAsc

If you want a faster pc change take all the components above, but change these:
power supply, be quiet 600w: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=CA-032-BQ
Processor, Core i7 750: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=CP-301-IN
Processor cooler, Arctic Freezer 7: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=HS-035-AR
Motherboard, Gigabyte P55A-UD3: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=MB-225-GI
Videocard, 5850: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....rodid=GX-215-SP
Additional fan: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....57&subcat=4

£987.09

As you can see this pc is infinitely faster as the acer.

You can ask for assembly and installation, but that won't be that much, at least you`ll have a pc which is really worth its price.
