interesting game. i go hussar while he go cossak. neither of us wants to risk attacking a base because that could end the game. we both gather an army but then he decides to attack my outpost far away from my base. then our armies meet...... game goes 46 min

gg

enjoy thumb.gif

comment,s feedback, review would be appreciated

btw this game was kinda chaotic because i didnt know where my units were and such and we both lost significant numbers of villagers.

lol ya was a very fun game. my mistakes (out of many) was that attack on your outpost was very stupid and almost lost me the game right there. advanced arsenal saved me for alot of the game tho and then i was trying to make it chaotic so i could catch up in vills and let my eco kick in. after i finally had things under control you made a great attack (was stupid to split my base tho) and i think i shouldve stayed musk instead of cav archer. finally i shouldve waited on more culvs instead of suiciding but didnt have time i dont think bc your attacks were so powerful. finally my micro got bad at the end bc i was frantic and am still playin with one hand so cav archers kept running to musks and not behind strets etc lol. overall nicely played tho homer, was fun..gg.

REPLAY REVIEW BY Asko - 13-09-2007
---------------------------------

Match Overview
An action-packed game between two boom-oriented civilizations Russia and British on Great Plains. Homer_J builds his army around Musketeers with some Hussars while O1B_Mark concentrates also building training weaker Russian Musketeers with Cossack support. First bigger clash takes place in middle-Colonial when Mark attacks Homerīs forward Outpost and Homerīs army arrives to defend successfully thanks to Musketeers which were upgraded by 2 cards. Minor battles occur and a long Colonial period is ended when Homer arrives to Fortress Age around 20-minute mark. Mark follows soon after and mixes Stretlets in his army to counter Musketeers better. Homer is the first and only player to get Falconets and sieges Markīs 2nd Town Center but loses his army. Now it is Markīs time to be aggressive and he takes down Homerīs forward Town Center with Stretlets and Musketeers while raiding on the other side of the map with Oprichniks. Back and forth situations follow and Homer reaches Industrial Age and upgrades his Hussars to Kingīs Life Guard Hussars and Mark is soon to follow. Mark starts using Cavalry Archers to effectively counter Hussars but Homerīs constant pressure on the South-Eastern corner of the map causes Mark to lose numerous villagers and thus allowing Homer to outspam Mark. The game ends in a bigger battle in Markīs main base.

You had a marvellous start when you got the 320 XP treasure which allowed you to ship both Distributivism and Economic Theory Cards as your first cards without losing anything in Colonial, though you could have shipped them in different order to gain a tiny boost early on. Your micro wasnīt your problem in Colonial fights but your unit choices, that you spammed only Musketeers against Homerīs upgraded Musketeers and Hussars: throwing in some Stretlets would have offered a better combination. Later in Fortress age you did good switching partly to Stretlets and gaining a better grip of the game and pushing Homer a little back but then Falconets would have your way to go to counter mass Muskets and raze buildings lighting fast: in fact you produced no Falconets at all which was one of the reasons why you lost. Your economy was also behind Homerīs for nearly all the time, due to minimal raiding and unbalanced economy with piles of extra wood. Homer could eventually outspam you quicker than you could produce Cavalry Archers and Stretlets & Culverines to counter his Musketeers, Hussars and Falconets.
    Tips for Improvement
  • Remember to ship earned shipments as soon as one is available and remember to change the shipment point to adequate: your 700 food shipment arrived in the middle of a battle on your forward Blockhouse
  • Raid more to even the British early economic advantage. You did good early with your 9 Cossacks and later with a few Oprichinks but against British it is needed not to let them sit back
  • Watch your economy that some resources are not piling up: for most of the game you had floating wood for nothing which you could have used to building a Trade Post on Trade Route or for marvellous native upgrades, and in the end you had 5k food and virtually no other resources.
  • Donīt attack 6 Cannons with pure Stretlets, that is suicide.
  • You should have sent a Fort wagon in some point to snatch map control: Homer built his base in a large area and his aggressive playing forced you on the defensive side of playing, with Fort you could have snatched a lot of map control and maybe changed the mood of the game.

It was a really great idea to include many military upgrade cards in your deck, it allowed you along with your manor boom to mass very strong army and that way you got the control of the game early. Despite your superior Musketeers to Markīs ones mixing in some Longbowmen would have provided your army not only diversity but extra firepower against Markīs Musketeers. You had an economical advantage over your opponent despite the fact that your villager production significantly declined after you reached 50 villagers which allowed Mark to push you back in Fortress Age. Luckily he wasnīt producing Cannons of his own so you could regain the control of the game. Upgrading your Hussars was a smart move but you could have ended the game earlier if you had saved some resources to research Redcoat Musketeers also soon after arriving to Industrial Age. In the end with upgraded troops and eventually maxed villagers + 2 Factories you could outboom your opponent by refreshing your troops faster than he could his own.
    Tips for Improvement
  • You had a lot of floating wood from early Colonial Age to Industrial age, watch your economy a little more carefully to gain maximum benefit from your boom.
  • Your villager production was good at first but declined after reaching 50-60 villagers. Keep a closer eye on having your Town Centers busy all the time.
  • Cheyenne Allies offer 2 wonderful upgrades which you should get if you have a Trade Post on their camp: Cheyenne Hunting Grounds delivers 12 bisons and Cheyenne Horse Breeding decreases cavalry training time by 40%
  • You had some idle military units loafing around during battles, tap [,] to employ your whole army to be able to fight with your maximum strenght.
  • Work on your micro to attack right units with your units: Sometimes all your Falconets were targeted to fire a single Stretlet, your Hussars where attacking Cavalry Archers which have melee resistance and Musketeers were shooting at Stretlets.
