hey, I do love the game: Relic had the courage to actually widen the RTS genere and risk money by trying something noone has done before - and they succeded. Game is very detailed both graphically and sound wise; a small, living world oppsed to wooden animations of other games. But there are some concerns...
-auto cover system: units do not react to orders, they wander around, get lost looking for cover; it denies micro
-unit formations and sync kills: ordering movement is not instant; untis will wander around, form rectangles and squares, perform 5 second kill sync, all under enemy fire. Game is just not responsive enough to allow superb micro shine
-game hosting: players hosting games on p2p create lags (especially in cross continent matches, ie EU-US). half of my 3vs3 games consist either a 1000 ping player or some random dude whos old pc and high settings lag the hell out of the game
-gay for windows live and steam: gfwl ius horrible, it just is.
-some maps have too many capturable points: you will find yourself running around playing hide and seek instead of fighting
-retreat mechanic: been stupid and overextendet? dont worry, just press THE button! Flanking dug in enemy units takes more time than retreating those units and coming back. Meele units charging ranged blob will take severe losses, and as they are to reach the target and trade hits(requisition costs) - enemy just retreats. Rinse and repeat to bleed out the enemy. There should be a special mode "no retreat", where you would have to pay the price of beeing sloppy and not predicting things.
-continous expansions which screw the "balance": over the year game has went from horribly unbalanced (hi Ravener alpha+rippers) to unbalanced, and now we are to get more (and more in the future) races that make game a rock-paper-scissors for 1n1 battles
-and finally, why have 60 ingame levels when you get unlocks every 3-4 levels? would 80k experience levels be too scary to players, so you had to divide them?
Thats why Starcraft2 will be a better game when it comes out - while dicovering nothing new in the RTS, they will have well done game matching, less races -> less trouble balancing, and finally a very responsive unit management.

All those things are known issues since beta, dow 2 is not made for e-sport/pro play.
I have got to say that I think you are off your rocker. I have Serious concerns with DoW2 but none that you have stated save gfwl nobody likes it but it's not the end of the world.
Oh and bitching about a ranged blob cutting down charging melee units. This argument is nuts so ranged units should not have and effect on a bunch of charging green skins with pipes and knifes? Come on man. As for your brilliant StarCraft comments go play "dicovering nothing new in the RTS" and leave us be with your drek.

- auto cover needs work for sure.
- sync kills are a crowd favourite I think, they do look cool but they aren't good for pro play.
- P2P is fine. Problem is the player with 1000 ping not the system he is using.
- GFWL is a pain, though I quite like the matchmaking. Steam I have no issue with at all.
- You can go attack your opponents power if you find they are avoiding a fight. That tends to liven things up...
- retreat surrenders map control and leaves you vulnerable to melee units.
- I'm not going to complain about new content. I think you're in th eminority if you don't like getting new races and units to play with.
- Why do you care about the levels? They are cosmetic only...
hey, I do love the game: Relic had the courage to actually widen the RTS genere and risk money by trying something noone has done before...
Where this meme came from? It is not hold any true but Relic fanboys just love it. DoW 2 isn't even a Strategy game it is Tactic game, but hell what you expect from someone that do not see a difference.
Wow. Just wow. I find it incredibly hard to stomach this rubbish. NOTHING ON THIS PLANET, CREATED BY MAN, IS PERFECT. I actually find it refreshing that the build order I used to stomp noobs six months ago is no longer valid. It makes the game playable for extended periods of time. Do you freaks seriously eat the same thing for breakfast every morning and say, "FUCK YES! SAUSAGE AND CHEESE AGAIN!"? Flop her over once in a while and enjoy the changes. This game is the straight dope. I have said it from day one! This is as close to balanced as it gets AND, while we are on the subject, what constitutes a balanced game? Is is the fact that the only "PROS" are a group of beleaguered degenerates with octopus like fingers microing everything to death OR is a "PRO" someone who truly UNDERSTANDS what each squad, war gear, ability, hero and vehicle brings to the battlefield and can execute this knowledge in REAL TIME! I will take the latter my friends and fuck your sausage and cheese!!!! Every once in a while I run into a serious savant who is playing as random, link up with him and run some team games and watch this dude straight own fools! Those guys should be defining the franchise, not some fan boi who refuses to play a different race, or hero, or use a different build order.... Come on fellas, you are all better than this....I hope...

This man is so on the bull's eye, that it should be thread over.

That's funny, your reasons are exactly why I'm underwhelmed over the current state of the game. I did play Random, but that's boring now. Things play the same, factions play the same, there are fewer build orders and fewer viable wargear.
But its more balanced.
To be honest I have no idea if that means I agree with you or not.

Relic is a shit ton more innovative than your precious Blizzard, my friend.
there must be a way to balance the game while keeping race diversity.
also is this a pros game ? what I mean, is surely there is too many random factors to be purely skill based ? dont get me wrong, you need skill to do well. But with random special attacks and random knockdowns.
