Their always been the trendwhore style. But i mean as in making them in c4d. I pretty much always make them makes me feel less lazy. And i normally do bigger stuff.

No tuts specifically, but some really awesome (and less conventional) C4Ds can be made using manipulation of graffiti fonts. Examples: http://khaoticstorm.deviantart.com/gallery/#3D

Are you looking to make effect c4ds or c4ds (like the above) which are the main "thing" in a piece?

I know I phrased that very badly but hopefully you understand tongue.gif

c4ds like teh above. Effect c4d are some random blobs strechted. Also a tut on post-work would be epic.

Yeah it was a wireframe but its made using Cinema4d also. It is essentially a C4d, but with some rendering effects.

To create those abstract peices in cinema4d, it is pretty simple. Just create splaine profile on the front, side and top view. NURBS loft, convert to ploygon, select faces > matrix extrude.

For the angle you want a close up but a wide FOV (like 90 deg +).

Dunno if you see this as abstract but you could take some parts of that and make a more unique abstract then the standard matrix extrude stuff.

And this is a pretty nice tutorial aswell:
