With Blizzard getting China back in the WoW game... will they make Cataclysm's release a higher priority than SC2's release?
certain parts of the game development process can be done independently... but certain aspects of publishing are handled by a small set of senior execs.
there is only 1 Frank Pearce... he works on both SC and WoW. Will this trusted executive work on SC2 or WoW?
We'll know in about 6 months as the epic drama of Starcraft2 development continues...
i think they are going to jam this thing through a multiplayer beta shorter than 6 months.

Well, someone on TL made a good point, this was at a game conference in Russia. Blizzard has repeatedly said that they would keep adding regions as the beta progressed, starting with the west, so their is a slim chance that they were only talking about the Russian beta.
That does seem like a bit of a long shot though, and I'd put my bet on it showing up next year for everyone.

News about the release date of Starcraft II has been published on a selected number of sites. Blizzard let's us know that the release date of the Beta has been pushed back until early 2010 and that the release date of the actual game will be late Q2.
Two days ago, the biggest Russian gaming expo IgroMir began, which was also attended by Blizzard representatives. During the event, StarCraft II was available to the public and a panel by Chris Sigaty, lead producer on StarCraft II, was held. The Russian gaming website Goha.ru wrote a summary of the panel. Currently, there is no official translation of the information and the majority of it is merely a recap of what was said during BlizzCon earlier this year. However, Sigaty has confirmed that the StarCraft II beta has been pushed back to 2010.

I'd say the unfortunate thing is that it is, from what we have heard, all about B.Net 2.0 issues. The game itself is apparently solid enough to present, but the networking infrastructure is less than perfect, or maybe they are having troubles integrating it into WoW.

I hope Blizzard does not begin a beta with a predetermined end date created before the beta begins. If they do this they'll become a little bit like every other publicly shareheld software company that cranks out sequels.
I think the financial people have put their foot down and said Q2 2010 so they can get to their real money maker: WoW. I think the threat the financial arm of A-B is using is that the SC2 project will get shelved until WoW and D3 are complete.
No matter what happens though, at this stage the single player experience will be the best campaign RTS experience in years.
Too bad they will probably make $50 X 3 off every SC2 player by making 2 expansions to follow WoL. And who knows how many expansions D3 will have. Money is probably the least problem for them.
Im starting to think this activision/blizzard fusion REALLY hurted blizzard a lot more than I tough possible.
C'mon, they earn in BILLIONS, just hire more people and get over with it, it's borderline ridiculous.
This is usual for Blizzard if it were up to Activision this game would already be out with another one coming out in a month. Patience it will be worth it ^^.
