Ok so I am thinking about getting a new computer for Christmas. My current computer's specs are listed in the attached dxdiag but to give you a basic overview right quick,
HP Pavilion 061 AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200 2046MB RAM Radeon X1950 Pro 512Mb 500Gb hard-drive
So with those basics in mind, I have basically reached the upgrade limit of my current computer so i'm thinking about giving it to my father who still runs a pentium 3 at 1.8ghz single core with 1G of ram, poor soul
Anywho, the purpose of this thread is 2fold 1. Is there any new technology or whatnot coming out that I should wait for before I purchase a new computer? 2. What all should I get for a new computer? I was thinking at least 4gb of ram, some type of dual (maybe quad) core that run at at least 2.8 ghz, a good graphics card for dx10, and I might keep my current hard-drive as i'm not even halfway full yet.
Anyone out there care to help?

New things to look out for will be solid state drives (decreasing in price rapidly) and the Nvidia DX11 GPUs (if not for the performance of them then at least for hte price decrease for everyting else)
Well basically it's whatever...I'd like to keep it under $1000 but it's not a big deal if it goes over. Also, I would like to get a nice cooling system that way I can overclock it as I need.
