We took a survey about tournament preferences a long time ago and we're looking to update that information now. We want to gather new opinions from current players to use moving forward. We are looking to host more competitions and competitive events this year and we want to know what works best for everyone.

Of course, let us know if you have additional thoughts. wink.gif

For the number of tournaments per month we have to really think about this one for a number of reasons.

Would money be involved in all of these tournaments? Generally money is very generously donated by RageOfHeat, but we can't possibly expect him to splash out that often on the community. Generally community donations are very low, or even non existent so the prize pool might not attract many players. Unless we could get some sponsors interested (unlikely) then I can't see cash being involved in many of these tournaments.

Would there be a high turn out rate compared to the number of sign ups if players think they can just turn up next week or whatever for another tournament? Having a very low number of players will make for a very quick and likely, highly repetitive tournament which might end up being quite boring. In order to make people want to turn up to each one, I think an absolute maximum of 2 per month should be put in place.

But despite this, the more tournaments there are in RA3, the more active the community will become and we might end up seeing more players rise to pro status. You never know, maybe some old pros could come back and show us how to play the game properly smile.gif. So personally, I am definitely for the prospect of regular tournaments!

I voted for 3 events and generally agree with GBH's points about not making more tournaments than that because it might lead to some with too few players.
I voted for 3 events as the following would be cool to me: 1 Ladder Wars, 1 1v1 tourney and 1 team tourney, clan wars or special event.

Also Sunday suits me best in general.

what about non usual tournament for fun no more
like 2v2v2 or FFA why not with no need for money or whatever ?
also making something like yearly league like doing tournament for top 4 or 3 players among last 12 months ?

What day of the week typically works best for you?

Saturday / Sunday, both are ok for me.

Saturday's nice for poeple being in a "late" timezone (Asia/Oceania), sunday being usualy a day off, they still can play without taking care about when it gona end.

Sunday being usualy the most active day from the week on ra3, this is imo the best day to have the largest number of participants.

If I really had to chose I would go for Sunday. We still can alternate one month all events on Saturday, the month after all on Sunday.

The best would be 13:00 GMT, so 14:00 for Central European Time, not too early / late, meaning you have the whole morning + evening free.

The worst is when it starts at 14 GMT in summer, it comes for us, with the seasonal time change 16:00 CET which mean we'll need afternoon + evening.

I'm fine with both.

Team tourney may allow us to see something different than we're used to see and generaly speaking I would say they are funnier and more relaxing to play.

Solo tourneys are, usualy, the best to evaluate who are the best currents players.

The best would be to host one solo tourney and one team tourney per month.

I would go for 2 events per month. 1 event per month is imo too low, 3 or more is too much and the risk would be to have less players signing up because they can "always" sign up for the next one.

Maybe, time to time an additional special event could be great for a specific occasion (RA3 B'day / Christmas Tourney, or any other ideas like the 'Water Tourney' we had a few time ago).

Since 1v1tournaments are hosted more often, i think i will go with 3v3 tourneys for more action and fun.

Im available on Saturday and Sunday, mainly in the afternoon here, from 14:00 gmt till 16:00 gmt. Anytime in the afternoon works for me, but in general i voted for 15:00 gmt.

I think 2 tournaments per month is great. At one point we will have enough tourneys per month, and at the same time, it will give players a break after each tourney, and time to practice. Constant tourneys like 3+ might wear out the players, cause everyone needs a break ^^

1v1.

I'd love to see at least two events each month with one being more like a freestyle version (with experimental maps) and one more serious (with maps with further testing).

Clanwar sounds good as well. But not sure if a tournament is the right choice for a proper clanwar. A league is more suitable for this.

I think Sunday is the best day to do this.

Most touneys begin around 21pm Sunday (in my time zone), it's hard to play or even watch. So I vote the beginning time is Saturday then I can sleep the whole next day biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
