RotWK Unofficial 202

This response deserves a new thread. It's not quite time to get RotWK active just yet, but it IS time to start preparing.

Today is the start of RotWK's season of optimism. We're not going to just sit back and shrug our shoulders at one or two games per day on Clanwars, we are going to do something about it. When the season ends, we will need your help in our activity surge, and we shall see whether or not our optimism was warranted. Regardless we will have made a good run at this effort, and as we can't possibly be worse off than we are now we have nothing to lose.


The patch will be out around the end of December (tentative date is December 21 - but that may not work well with our plans), don't worry about whether that will happen or not, it will. (That said, asides from a couple of important bugs and minor imbalances, the current patch is very nice I feel and a new patch will be just a symbolic help mainly.)

Instead, worry about whether we can successfully prepare and execute an ambitious campaign of 2.02 advertisement/conversion in which we end up with most non-noob 2.01 players all doing 2.02. It will need somebody (or multiple people) to lead it (other than myself - I have to make the patch! - but I will certainly help) and plan and will require the assistance of the entire 2.02 community (meaning everybody who is not playing now, 50-100 people), and we will only have one shot at it, but I believe we've got a good chance. The very basic premise would involve making sure everyone knows that THIS DAY is the comeback day, and knows exactly what we'll be doing - spamming the 2v2 lobby with 2.02 games, using all the techniques we've learned from the original patch release and BT2DC's frontlining efforts (believe me I know a lot about recruiting players, just hope I can remember it ) to get people to download the new patch. Plus a few other plans Juan had lying around for 2.02c release and we might be reasonably successful. It entirely depends on how well we do convincing old 2.02 players to all pick up the game again on the given day.

Actually, I should really get someone on that now. Any responsible volunteers?

We only need a couple people organizing, but we will need everyone to raise activity on the appointed day.

This in conjunction with the also-important work of maintaining 2.02 activity at the moment. Alex and Slip have applied to be tourney mods and regular tournaments will help; we also should be doing 2.02 parties which were never unpopular, perhaps they'll handle those as well. If not someone else can. More volunteers please?

I can't run these efforts on my own, but I will give advice and help where I can.

And this deserves a separate post - I picked a bad day to start this conversation as I won't be online again until about 40 hours from now. You guys will have to start this conversation without me and I'll pick up and get things going when I return. Hopefully we'll have decided who'll be helping organize this by that time.

And also, there is to be no attacking 2.01 in this topic, complaints about our situation or that patch, etc. This is a productive topic only. I hate to be strict but we need to get serious now.

The problem is the BFME2 community is divided into 4 groups;

rotwk 2.01

rotwk un2.02



And as long as its divided like that, activtiy will dwindle. The fact remains that not many people have heard about 2.02. I talk to them in the lobby and they go what? some of them have never even heard of GR. Now unless theres someway you can change the home page in the game to say check out this rotwk un2.02m not many people will play it. The fact remains that its just easier to play 2.01. Sadly, 2.01 is full of nonsense so people will obviously switch to 2.02. and the cycle can continue. people will swtich back due to lack of activity.



Bottom line is, as long as ur divided, theres no way this will be an easy task. I will always surpport un2.02 because i love the gameplay and balance, but you have to reach to more people than just GR.

Trust me... this is gonna be fun, every1 will get together to play the latest update of 2.02 without cws or competition, making it essentially just like 2.01 open play, cept with a more balanced patch.

there will be new pp paths, units will be balanced, some nerfed, some buffed, and new maps will be included which are balanced...

... even if ppl don't play 2.02 much more after this, just one day will be fun, every1 will be playing a new patch so thus will be on even grounds, and new ppl will be introduced and get the feel of 2.02 at its finest

If i'll have time on that day, you will see me online But if i won't see a lobby spammed by the 2.02 games, i'll be out of there the very second, cause i cba to be there if i won't make a difference.

I suggest, that we gather up in U2.02 lobby till an appointed hour, answer to any questions anyone still has and after that hour, we all go to 2vs2 and after that hour, anyone that comes goes to 2vs2 lobby without first going to U2.02 (why i suggest this is to see how many people we will actually have for this thing)

And while promting 2.02, promote Xfire too, getting games without it is very hard. Could you add a link to the 2.02 Xfire Community on the 2.02 download page?

I want to do play on "the Day" because i haven't gotten a game in forever.

But my dvd recently scratched and I can't get the iso i made to work. Does anybody know how to do this? Is it because of Protection software or whatever?

Yes, just go to gamecopyworld and get the appropriate version of jasu and no dvd iso from there, needed that when my dvd started cracking but i also suggest u to copy the disc, cause installing with the ruined one can soon become impossible.

even though with me and Alex hopefully going to be tourny mods we will do anything else we can to get this patch back on track and better than ever so Forlong just ask me and Alex if u need help with anything and we wil gladly help ^^

Orly? I can comfortably get 6-7 games a day by using the 2.02 Xfire Community. It has almost 140 members atm.

Btw you should let people know in the 2.01 section, not all of them look here.
