any counter? Im a newb to kw, but whenever i see an epic i just quit out because in my expierence the only counter is to get an epic out at a similar time.
EMP nades, EMP buggies. If you can get EMP onto it then its pretty easy to kill. But there is a bug for the hex, that allows it to be teleported even if it is EMP'd.
Masked if you have all these problems i suggest you look for help in the strategy forums for your favorite faction as the people there usually will gave far more in depth answers to the questions you seek.

Tell me the faction you play, and we'll move it to the strat forums.
Also, EMP works wonders against epics.
For GDI subfactions: Juggs, Mammoth Tanks, Sonic Emitters, Orcas, Shockwave Artillery, lots and lots of Compo Rocketmen (not against a 2 Sniper or 2 Grenade MARV or Ravager Hex duh), Zone Hammerheads (you have to keep an eye on these they die like flies and cost $3000)
For Nod: EMP buggies, Avatars, Vertigos, Obelisks, Mine Drop.
For Scrin: Tripods, Tripods, Tripods, Tripods, Tripods, Tripods. Maybe Disintegrators if your opponent is an idiot. With Tripods.
From a stats perspective, all epics are the most vulnerable to cannon damage so anything that can take some punishment and do cannon damage is your best bet.

well it was a general question. I could have made 9 topics, and weren't these strat sections got rid of, or was it only cnc3.
But yea thanks everyone, guess its just higher tier units and emp
Yeah i understand where you're coming from, all the strategy forums do still exist unfortunately we no longer have a general strategy forum which we may have to create.

At the time, I was pretty crappily ranked due to playing some top 200 players and getting pwned, but this guy went for fast Redeemer and I was able to beat it with predspam and EMP nades.
As GDI, if I hear that an epic has just come out, I usually put up my Tier 4 and/or Armory + 3 or 4 Grenadiers w/ EMP. Most of the time, you have to lead the target if you're using EMP naders. For Shockwave, sometimes you can drop it right on the epic if it's not moving.
The only cost effective counter to Epics is your own epic, i only gave him an idea of how to kill an Epic super fast at T2 with minimum damage received. And as for AA, I guess that's why i started my sentence with "stop his scouts"

I entirely disagree. Most epics, cost for cost, do rather crappy damage unless they're ranked up or we're talking about 2+ ZT Marv or a Shock Troop Hex.

Shock hardpoints have crappy RoF... I'd much rather get a disintegrator one, they deal with tanks\buildings nicely. Shocks are only really better for anti air and for sniping mechapedes.
You think that EMP upgrade, units for constant EMP cycle AND units that do decent damage to Epics is a better counter cost wise than 1 Epic of your own?

Situational, but my first response to hearing an enemy epic pop up (as GDI) isn't to build an epic of my own. It's to pop an armory and get EMP nades or go Tier 4. I'll probably already have some kind of unit built to do damage-Predators, Missile Squads, Orcas, etc.
Here's the flaw in the reasoning of using your epic to kill their epic. 1) It's possible that their epic can beat yours. 2) Your epic must actually be in the same place as their epic at all times. That requires knowing where their epic is at all times and being able to get there to stop it. Teleporting Hexapod anyone? 3) If you counter their epic unit with yours, their epic can still retreat. It can be teleported. It can rage, stealth, and walk off. It can simply withdraw to a better position or friendly units, and in all likelihood has killed some things while doing it, getting it closer to ranking up.
If you EMP that epic, it is helpless. It can't inflict further damage as long as it is EMP'd. It can't escape, forcing your opponent to come rescue it.
Plus, I don't build the MARV every game if I'm going for lots of Orcas and/or Juggernauts.
Your way will most likely chase off their epic, which will keep inflicting damage as it does so. My way will most likely kill it, or at least force your opponent to spend more credits to rescue it (e.g. Phase Field). Take your pick on which one is better.
