Universe at War Portal News - GameReplays Re-launches Its Home Page

Over the past few weeks, the GameReplays web development team has been working hard to overhaul the home page of the site, which was launched early yesterday, finally adding some much needed functionality.

In addition to the fresh new look, new updates are simplified, streamlined, and now come from every game section on GameReplays. At a glance, it’s possible to see what the latest and greatest content is across the whole site, as well as what’s happening in the industry as a whole. The highlight rotator makes it easy to find the best content from each game, as well as special features on the home page itself.

The list of games on the right hand side is there for convenient access, and is sorted by the activity in each game’s general discussion forum. In the future, the ranking will be a mix of activity from a variety of factors.

Expect to see more improvements to the navigation and header in the coming weeks, as well as much more content, features, articles, and news added regularly. If you have any questions or comments, please post them in our Site Feedback and Improvement forum.

Universe at War Portal News - Petroglyph Confirm UK Release Date

Over at the official Petroglyph forum they have confirmed several game release dates. Included in this, the official date for Universe at War to be released in the UK. A lot of people have been quite annoyed as to why the company has released the game at separate dates in the world, for instance it has been over a month since the game was released in the USA. If you do live in other parts of Europe, the release date is expected to be the same as the United Kingdom.

Petroglyph, creator of Star Wars: Empire at War, is the developer of this title and SEGA is in charge of publishing the game. There have been a lot of people wondering why they have not managed to market the game in the UK as well as they have done in other countries, which is quite disappointing as it is such a great game.

If you live in the United Kingdom and are thinking about buying this title, I suggest you try the single player demo first.

Universe at War Portal News - UaW Reviews

IGN and Game Informer have just released their official reviews of Universe at War today. Both websites share generally the same opinions: the campaign was lacking in terms of entertainment and AI has issues, but overall the gameplay is great. Thus, IGN gives UaW a solid 8.0 and Game Informer a respectable 8.25 rating.

At first glance, this title has everything a triple-A RTS needs. The factions play very differently, a huge mix of units makes for extremely varied strategic options, and the carnage is fast and furious. Whether you’re commanding the Novus’ legions of highly mobile robots, the Hierarchy’s towering walkers, or the Masari’s tree-hugging idealists, building up your forces and conquering the world is a blast.

You can read Game Informer's review here and IGN's review here.

Head over to our Universe at War Discussions to discuss the game and more reviews.

Universe at War Portal News - The patch number One

The first patch for Universe at War has been arrived from Sega and is available for both aidof connect to Live in-game and through FTP (20.6 Mb). The update tweaks balance issues like the "problem" with both arms and shields of an Assembly Walker: now they should be destroyed before the core can be wrecked. But the core part of the patch are gameplay changes and bug fixes efforts towards multiplayer.

Petroglyph, the developers of the game, continues working on another update.

For the full list of changes and more mirrors, go to the special topic in the GR Universe at War forums.
