For those of you who are wondering about snakesonafane. Well, some of us still play, though not everyday. A few quit. And the rest play everyday in company of heroes beta. So, we will be having a SoaF in CoH, if it supports clans.
Just to Keep everyone up to date.

In its current state its just not worth it to get online any more , I doubt ive played more then 10 diffrend ppl in the last month.
Playing before the evening in euro time pretty much always means you find noone or maybe 1 good player online and not many ppl like playing the same guy 5 times in a row , at the evening/night it gets a little better with maybe 3 > 7 good players online but I really shouldnt be forced to play at night to find some good games.
The lack of games is mainly what is forcing me away from this game at this point and no I dont consider clicking quickmatch to play a 5-10 min game worth it even though I can find it in 20 secs to bash a noob.
Critical things right now if RoL wants to survive : 1) Fix QM (HUGE) 2) Fix bugs/random drops/droptricks and make team games playable. (HUGE) 3) Balance Cuotl 4) Go back to the old servers where you get into a chat room when you log on , there is no community feeling whatsoever online. This kind of server is great for games with a huge population (warcraft) , but when you only have 150~ ppl online it just doesnt work.

Yeah this is a big problem if you go to the chat room there's no one there. Feels dead.
Again, first off, I think I was the first in this forum to make a thread suggesting a rating limit in QM. So I support this idea wholeheartedly.
But I feel all of the problems Phaleos is mentioning could be fixed by a bigger population. For instance, the way QM works, more players makes it more precise (at least that was the idea as Hippo described it).
Also I think less and less top players will be playing QM when so many are complaining about it, thus QM will suck more as you complain about it. It is a problem, no doubt, but try to be constructive.
Most people here (except DakiMagro and a few others) are more interested in fleeing the ship before it sinks, than to stop it from sinking.
Making negative self-fulfilling prophecies in a discussion like this is like sending your miners to help you in battle. =_=

I understand your points PTS but im not gonna sit here and think about dreams that will never happen , the game isnt gonna grow with these flaws in the server. Somethimes its just better to tell the cold hard truth. BHG expected a big community because their entire server is set to a big community , but I never see that happening so they HAVE to adjust it if they want a future for this game.
QM wouldnt work better with 2k ppl on , ive had multiple occasions where I just waited for a lvl 20+ player to get out a game and wait for him to start another QM game (you can see it when he starts staging) just to start staging and getting matched up after 2 seconds with a lvl 1 player .
In maybe 150 QM games I played 15-20 2100+ players thats 10-12% of my games vs ppl that are worth playing so Im sure I have every right to complain about it. Ive said dozens of times before that we needed a cap on the elo of max 200 so why would I have to repeat myself in every topic.
If you honestly think im just posting the biggest game flaws that are killing the game right now for my own self-fulfilling prophecies you cant be off more and you really dont know me at all . You cant expect anyone to sit online for half a hour and not find a decent game. Offcourse I would rather have that this game has a big community and I can get a good game in 5 minutes every time I get online , I dont even care if thats QM or custom. Im not fleeing the ship , im just more at the shore now then I am on the ship then I was a good month ago. Again I stay with my conclusion its better to tell the cold hard truth then keep dreaming that all of the sudden the community will grow and everything fixes itself.
Im 100% sure the server and QM problems have turned hundreds of people away and you complain about a few people that state their problems with the game that are mostly caused by the server problems that lead into a smaller community. Stick to the roots of the problem in stead of attacking other players that give their side of the version , we all enjoy playing the game and invested enough time in it to state our honest opinion. For me the ball is in BHG's corner.

I understand Phaleos, I just think it's better to make polls and constructive posts to help focus BHG's attention if you really want to fix the problem. The last months they have been bombarded with balance and feature issues and are currently working on expanding and improving Cuotl. Partly due to among others your posts.
To say publically that the game is unplayable for you and you are considering leaving will only discourage fellow players and could make the game worse for those who keep playing it.
Of course QM is a huge priority, it is my favorite way of getting a game in ROL. But if it stands between fixing QM and making some $100K compo recruitment campaign to get a few 100 more players into RoL, I would choose the recruitment campaign personally..

I think we can disagree on that one , how many people have actually started playing RoL because of the 100k tourney? Maybe 10-20 or so? I would rather have a non problematic server and a good QM system then that 100k tourney. How many people are actually training for that tourney anyway , I havent seen many.
The most important core of a online game is always the noobs and inters that stay with the game and improve , its important that they dont lose hope and dont get turned off by playing players above or below there skill . The server problems are mostly team games oriented and while im no fan of team games im sure that having 1/4 games having a drop in the game cant be really fun.
With these 2 fixed I see players coming back to the game and the community improving while if you just go for balance for the 100k tourney you will just get a few gold diggers that come for the tourney and leave after its over.
Its offcourse very hard for BHG but server problems and QM should have been fixed in the first 2 months after release , the longer you wait the more people you lose.
Im not really planning to leave the game , its just that these where my last weeks where I could play a lot and they have been ruined by server problems that turned many people away from the game , making it extremly hard to find quality games at my normal playing times . Since the CoH demo came out it seems a lot of players headed into that direction. I still hope for a good future for RoL , lets see how it evolves.

I never said the 100K tourney helped.. my exact quote to Gigi when he revealed he knew BHG's plan, was "I certainly don't hope they're going to throw more money around". *Gigi says nothing* My point was, a re-recruitment is way more important for me - than to keep the current small player mass as happy as possible...

Yep. Every game needs a noob base.

Well it looked like you were considering quitting... that's the spirit Bridger injected into this thread and you seemed to be following up his negative I don't care thing. Maybe I missed something. =X

I doubt it will happen. CoH is hardly an RTS, and about as different from RoL as you can get. If I was a rat leaving a sinking ship, I think I'd swim for a ship with less holes in it, like old WC3.. or upcoming SupCom. ;P
Then again we know everyone who has even a remote chance at the top prizes will be back for the $100K. It's given..

For a look at how CoH has absolutely no problems at all, see TSN's special: http://www.tsncentral.com/ondemand/130806451698/ note how the first 15 minutes of the game is trying to make it work.. and how the "gameplay" is more or less building units. Enjoy ;P
My ELO fluctuates between 1600 and 1700 although my level is 9 or 10. Thus I am a noob/intermediate player. I have been playing a month online, since patch 1.65. Except for when the server was down I have not experience problems, but I only play 1v1 QM games.
I have tried to enter team games but have recieved messages that indicate conflict between the gameserver and my firewall/router settings. I forget the exact messages but I do not know how to resolve the problem. I don't even know who hosts the game in team games through online play. I understand there is a lot of problems with team games even if I could get into one. While not being able to get into team games is annoying it does not take away from my overall enjoyment of game (obviously it can't since I have never been able to get into a team game).
Unfortanetly for those who favour them I don't think fixing problems with team games is BHG's highest priority at the moment. I am sure that they have a step by step plan to fix things. So it will be fixed unless company goes insolvent (I doubt this will happen).
Noob bashing has been discussed in this thread, as well as the online community population numbers. Since I still regard myself as a new player I want to address this topic. I am more concerned when I play a player with a level of 1-4 than when I play someone of a higher level than myself. Why would I be concerned about this? Because 1. If the player is very unskilled I do not want to overwhelm them and cause a negative feeling about online play. Since I enjoy playing RoL online I want others to enjoy it. 2. That the player is actually a very skilled player who is smurfing - I think this happened a couple of times to me - who is going to overwhelm me by 6 minutes.
So I am sort of left in an untenable position. I do not know how to play low level players. For example a few days ago I was beaten so quick by 'bull' who was level 2 or 3 at the time and afterward I looked at his record and saw maybe 4 or 5 games. I could explain it only as a smurf or someone who had spent a while playing the ai on tougher/toughest. I imagine that many players are in a similar dilemna. So yesterday I played much more agressively against all low level players while still trying to be helpful in pointing some things out once I realized I was playing against a very new player. But I am not satisfied with that approach because I do not want to drive away very new players, some advice here would be welcome. Personally I have never been troubled by being vastly outplayed as it is a terrific way to get experience.
I strongle agree with the idea of bracketing the opponents one will play against, with the option to enlarge the bracket, or customise. Which leaves the problem with online player population. It has to be large enough to make this change worthwhile, both from BHG's perspective and a player's seeking a quick game or three. For now though I don't think QM selection should be changed unless there is a profound error in the online pop count.
If you all feel so strongly about this, I agree with you also. Make a thread about it, bring it to their attention that the community will continue to dwindle if these things don't get fixed. I think BHG will care, at least I hope they do.
Make a topic on it with a well thought out list of things that need to be fixed, like what Phaleos provided. Put in the sub-topic title BHG please look at this.
However be nice in the thread, I don't want any bashing
I dunno how someone can like CoH when he likes RoL. The games are very different. I dont like it at all. I have almost no problems with RoL. Unless I either meet noobs or ppl that are sooooo much better than me, and very rarly I get an exciting game. But I have no connx issues, and I can play when i want to.

We do feel very strongly about the state of the community and what we can do to further improve gameplay. Your voices have been heard, and we are working now on additional changes that should help bring better playability to Rise of Legends.
This month should hold quite a bit in store for Rise of Legends, and I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised by what the next update contains. I can't really say anything more on it, or give a specific timeline, but know that we are still very much committed to RoL and the community. Keep an eye peeled for more coming down the pike this month.
I have no problems with most of my online games, sure there have been a few drops here and there and yes I've been droptricked too, but most of my matches are still fun.
I still discover new strategies to use and am curious to see where the game takes us after the 100k tourney, maybe there will be some more incentives to play teamgames thereby opening up a new bunch of strategy-combinations (like we had in RoN!).
It's too bad that there are few good players online to play against, but I try to check in every now and then to see if someone is on!

EDIT: Here's my modding ultimatum. The petition it refers to is at http://rol.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/...,365&st=100. Here's my final ultimatum: Give us all the modding needed for Zekeland (which I will detail to you) in the next patch, or: - Zekeland is cancelled until we have more modding. - I will cancel any modding classes I am going to do for HG Expo. - I will quite possibly begin to dedicate myself to a game such as RTW, RoN, and other such moddable games (though RTW does need player made tools a lot I admit). I have finally given up. I have spent about a year with RoL, waiting for it to come out eagerly, getting and doing cool things with the demo, and then finally getting the game. In all that time I have never heard a BHG Employee say that the level of modding was going to be atrocious, in fact, it was going to be better than RoN's says Greypawn a few months ago in the Questions for BHG Thread.
Also, I will release anything, however illegal or legal, to hack more modding into the game I make, if my - our in fact - demands are not met.
In the end, I am fed up of using the Demo. If I knew this was going to be the situation I might not have actually got RoL until the prices went down a few weeks/months after UK Release. The Demo is unstable, liable to locking up the computer, causing massive crashes, 'blue screening' my computer (means crashing it completely), and that's just for starters, so it's hardly an at all good platform for modding.
I am fed up of hearing 'we can't do it overnight' or 'maybe after the tourney' (by which time RoL WILL be dead if it continues as now), so here I stand. I really don't want to do this, but I think I may have wasted a lot of my summer holiday on RoL, so I am no longer keen on just doing a petition that I don't think BHG even cares about (even though it is a ton of the RoL Community at present).
