Why can hookers earn money for sex? Why can you earn money for donating sperm? Why can you earn money for particpating in surveys and studies? Do you know that "nipple tweaker" is an actual profession? http://www.amyth.com/Odd/imgs/Lopez-Tweaker.jpg
Give me a break. If you can earn money for those retarded things, then why shouldn't you be able to earn money for something that requires thousands of hours of practice and a fair amount of skill?

Nipple tweaker huh I think I am in the wrong profession...
Any way back on topic Agm is right earning money for playing games is not sad. Just because most people play games for fun does not mean that it is sad to play games for money.
wow whoever made the decision to put up cnc3 for wcg has a ton of balls, putting it in the running before cnc3 is even out, and its by a publisher with what is considered the worst post game support in regards to patching.
nah, I think sports is different...because like in football you can come out having your body fked from all the injuries, but yeah with games its bit sad.
How is it sad? You can do something that no one else can - it might have been "sad" the way you got there through hours of play (though I'd rather that then hangin around on a street corner) but actually competing in the competition isnt.
Indeed... In RTS it's not THAT big a difference, but frequent LANers can generally do well in lots of different games.
The 1 time I went to a Lan party there were many random players. They aren`t really good at 1 game they just play a bit for fun. There are also people which are good they have a chance, but not that many.

Because u get injured u should get paid millions lol.
Lmafao at anyone who think votes or popularity or anything of that nature had anything to do with CnC 3 getting in, there is only one reason this CnC game thats not even out yet is in and every other CnC game wasn't, MONEY! we all know EA is pushing this stupid RTS as a sport thing so of course they forked over the dough to get their game in, hell I bet all the prize money for the tournaments will even be payed for by EA! I mean just think about it NEED FOR SPEED is in the dam thing!
If popularity had a dam thing to do with it RA2 would have been in it.

WCG have contacted us to say that the page on their website was just a test page for WCG2007 and that the information is not guaranteed to be correct. They also say that the official press release and website will be available shortly.
Whether this means that the games list was incorrect or incomplete is not clear

Sorry, for the bump, but I have to reply to this completely misinformed post.
WCG selects games based on several factors:
1.) Popularity and player support 2.) Developer support 3.) Their own staff's opinions and input 4.) Strategic partner input 5.) How available the title is for purchase world wide
WCG doesn't host player opinion polls just for the fun of it. They're not going to support a game very few people have interest in.
Yes, money is a part of it. A developer needs to shell out like $400,000 to get a game supported. But no matter how much money they throw at it, WCG won't support it if there isn't any information.
Aaron, the C&C 3 community manager, specifically had to build a case for C&C 3 based on the reasons why WCG support would benefit the community. Darky and I had to write up a brief proposal and traffic data about GR which Aaron sent to a WCG committee.
Why wasn't RA2 in it? Because there wasn't enough developer support and it's HIGHLY unlikely that enough of the RA2 player base cared much for WCG. Why hasn't C&C ever been in it? Because Westwood built a culture of non-competitive gaming with C&C. More people care about Kane and Tiberium than they do tournaments and prizes. C&C has a very singleplayer-oriented culture associated with it. The C&C community's care factor for things like WCG is pretty low, at least until recently.
GameReplays and I'm sure united-forum (the German equivalent to GR) had a LOT to do with this game being supported in WCG. I believe it was GR's competitive-oriented nature that originally put the bug in Aaron's ear about getting EA's games in WCG. The first attempt was for BFME 2, but obviously that wouldn't have gone through. C&C 3 is clearly the strongest candidate for a WCG-caliber game from EA and it's the strongest candidate in terms of player support.
But feel free to keep on thinking that money is the only reason why it's in WCG. The fact that SupCom isn't in WCG could be for any reason. Lack of community support, lack of developer support, who knows.

It's not about getting injured. In both areas (hookers too) they (we in gaming) aren't "just playing games" we are providing ENTERTAINMENT for people, and that pays. And is it a CRIME to like your job? should your job always be shitty?

I have a feeling THQ was mostly responsible for DoW, CoH and Sup Com making no appearances at WCG this year.
