Played Bryce in a couple 2v2 matches, and he's a friend of a clanmember of ours.. This match was a bit of a "Friendly challenge".

The match turned out being quite entertaining, I thought. Check it out. Wouldn't mind a review on this one.
bry pwned you in treasure hunting but besides that good job with the mercs. i was suprised he didn't go for spys even when he had a church. i have a question wouldn't you have a gold gathering boost card in your deck to increase gold production? and if the map had TP would you go for them in this strat?

Yeah, I was rather irritated by his constant treasure theiving. Especially the last one, where he has his villager grab my treasure right before I do. Every single one of those were "Close", too, like I was grabbing them at the same time he was. I dunno how he beat me to it 3 times in a row.
Gold gathering cards I don't use simply because I have other cards that need to be played first. 2SW, 3SW, Mercs, and Military shipments are usually priority. I start sending Economic and Misc cards if the game drags on past 30 minutes or so and I need to start booming.
On a TP/Water map, I would try to grab a TP (Or dock) a little bit after I build a saloon. Houses are first priority, along with market, rax, and saloon. Then I start building TP's and Docks. Kinda depends on how much spare wood I have though. As long as I keep my military active and keep pumping mercs from Saloon XP is not much of a problem. Sometimes I find myself coming up short on food in late age3 so i have been trying to switch my woodies over to food a little sooner. (As soon as I have Wood for Mills/Plantations/Houses are maxed, rax are built, etc).
As far as him not making spys.. I have a couple theories on that.
1, is that he intended to make spys and then he saw me coming with regular military units and ninjas
2, he simply forgot
3, he figured his regular units along with his own mercs could counter my mercs
he expressed to me after the game that he was surprised by my use of the saloon, so I think the fact that I was mixing my units well kind of threw him off.. If I recall correctly just about every attack I made on him I had some kind of merc, combined with skirmishers, and usually some ninjas.
+ Nice Treasure hunt/steal skills + You protected your villager from uhlan raids + You called stradiots out quickly to deal with Ether's Jaegers
- IMO you should ship 700 wood instead of 700 food and age-up with 4 banks instead of 2, the earlier you get those banks up, the sooner they will pay off and boost your economy ( it take a bank 5 miniutes to pay itself back). Utilize your economical advantage to the limit!
- You reserached "Coffee Trade" at the point that you only have 2 banks up and you were short on food, imo this is a big mistake. You pointlessly sacrficed 10% of your units movement speed which was essencial for them combat jaegers for no immediate benfits at all Couldn't you here your units' own complains?
- Age3 Military shipment >>>> Bank limit booster ( Bank of Amersterdam/Rotterdam) when you were fighting a war in fortress age. There is no point in sending a bank limit booster when you only have 2 banks and already reserached coffee trade. If you don't have the resoruce to build 5 banks at once, don't bother with it, send 8 halberder instead.
- Instead of going 1 barrck &1 stable skirmisher & ruyter spam, imo you would have much better chance using dual barrack halberder(speed boosted)/skirmisher spam. The only units that he could use to stop you are jaegers, which you have some very leathal counter for (church stradiots & spies)
- EtherIMP used large number of ninjas as well as jaeger/hackpell/landsknect shipments, you should train spies and use them(stealth mode would help) to obliterate those units( spy deal 100 damage per hit against those units)
- You swtiched to mills when there were still large number of huntables on the map. You should have build outposts with all the wood you spent in mills, hunting is a lot more efficient than farming.
Player summary Your unit micro was good, but you didn't chose the right unit to counter a mass merc spam. Your economy was not great nor was your shipment/upgrade choice. Had you done better in those areas you would have won easily.GL in the future. GG!

Politicans:
+ You made nice raids with your Jaegers + Ninjas were a nasty suprise for Bryce & his chuch stradiots + You made good use of your saloon & merc shipments
- You had serious problem with floating resources and idle villagers during battle. Spend all your resources! There is no point in collecting 4,000 resouces and just let them sit on you stockpile. Build buildings, queue villagers & train military with them. Had you used all those resources you would have finished the game much earlier.
- IMO "the Exiled Prince" was not the best politician choice you have. Even though you aged up to fotress quickly, but you didn't have a shipment ready till 7:30, which pretty much defeated the purpose of using this politician-get to fotress age quickly to utlizie age 3 shipments. You should have aged up with either "The sergent at arms"( 3 Dopplesolder) or "The Marksman" ( 6 skirmishers) to support your merc shipment, those two politican would take you to fotress age at roughly the same time you get the next shipment
- You didn't produce any unit, espcially anit-cavalry(cavalry rape jaegers) to support your 13 jaegers, had you trained some pikeman/dopplesolders you would have been able to easily overwhelm bryce's forces and take down some houses so he couldn't call stradiots ( even if he did, 10 pikes/dopples would been able do deal with them).
- Split your villagers among differnt silver mines, putting them on the same mine will cost your tremendous amount of walking time from mine to mine that could have been easily conserved.
- You didn't built a third TC, nor did you utilize the second TC to produce villagers. Remeber that you need to hit "T" twice to get to the second town center, if you want to produce settler consectively from two center, just hit "T"-"V"-"T"-"V", it works the same way with three town centers.
- You spent too much on ninjas. All you need was the first 5 ninja to counter Bryce's stradiots, after that he have no mercs and there is no longer a need for ninja(which are counter mercs). The massive amount of resouces(in term of villager second for all comparisons) & pops (2600 coin & 52 pops for all other 13 ninja that you had produced) you have spent on these ninjas would have been used to produce(had you built a barrack/stable earlier) 15 dopplesolders/24 skirmishers/18 uhlans/8 war wagons/5 falconets or any combination of those units, and they would have performed much better against Bryce's forces than your ninjas that were not doing what they were speciallized to do, ninja should be used for counter-merc only and that should be it, make the most out of your resources!
Player Summary: Even though you had some problem with resource management and military macros, you were able to epxloit your opponents biggest weakness-lack of merc counter to your advantage and obliterate him in the end. But you could have finished the game earlier had you fixed any of those mistakes that were listed above. GJ! GG!
Player Rating: 4.8
Game Summary: Even though mistakes were not rare in this 25 miniute long FF war, it is still a nice game. Both player made some nice micros and some rare mercs were used( Li Bombard FTW ). GG! Enjoy!

Thanks for the review, Philosopher! I appreciate the input.. One thing though:

Depending on my opponent + map, I will often go with 6 skirmishers or 3 dopplesoldner.. I was not sure how aggressive Bryce was going to be, and assuming he had gone on the offensive early I wanted to be in age3 in case I couldn't gather the 1000g for mercs and needed to fall back on a 8 skirm shipment or something, not to mention keeping villie production going to match the Dutch eco.
Also, if I remember correctly he scouted me and should have been anticipating a FF, in which case I wanted to be ready to defend against a pike rush.
The floating resources is a direct result of my own bad habits, combined with a very Gold intensive FF. I could have managed my eco much better in this matchup, but I think the fact that I played extremely aggressive and kept my military busy balanced this lack of macro out.
I do agree 100% that I should have been building more rax/towers and probably another TC.. Maybe even setting up some mills/plantations.
All and all, I agree with your review and will keep the things you mentioned in mind for future matchups. Thanks so much!

You don't need pop space to call them
