Well, stof seems to actually hang around gr.org. Guess he's taken a liking to the site, anyway, I guess they are playing CNC3, SupCom, etc. to get ideas for their current game.

Wow Stof. I was unable to speak to him for many days. I guess they are busy. I wonder if eugen systems come to this forum and atari too.
They should play COH too. Well the RTS have lots to change and lots to come. Innovation and creativity is what is important in anything.

I don't know how, but if you downloaded the AoW:HT version from direct2drive, it may not contain the language packs because that version was only meant for North America.

Same with the german version, only subtitles are in the native language, the rest comes in english. Even the menu and ingame text which was translated in AoW:DA. Guess they didn´t have had the money to do that, which takes alot of the atmosphere from the addon for me.
Nothing as of yet , I tried to email PqLear the other day but it said his email didn't work. I holla'd at Stof a little while ago he said they aren't talking about the game yet.
i just wanna say i miss aow too.... i peek into this site once in a while to see if any old timers post anything interesting or if any sort of activity revived the game. By the looks of it im not the only one.... you guys too.
I've tried all the latest RTS games out there but nothing matches the intense action of AOW.
me too.. I've played Company of Heroes for a while, but i got bored with it pretty soon. Also, the moddability of CoH is rather poor, unlike AoW where almost every little thing was moddable. My next hope is World in Conflict, which should be out this summer i think. But i really hope Eugen will make a new RTS in the style and spirit of AoW. AoW 2 would be better ofcourse, but from what i understand, that's not going to happen. In the meantime i'm working on my own opensource 3D game engine.. just to kill the time i used to spend with AoW.. well it's actually pretty fun.. hehehe.

Well AOW 2 can happen if we petition it or let our voice be heard by atari and ask eugen to create AOW 2.
Ehm... I just downloaded the HT demo b/c my download is 78.1% so I wanted to try the demo but when I install it and try to run it it gives me a messagwe in an another languade I cannot understand and it crashes at the very beginning. Can anyone help me through this, I tried 4 HT demos and they all gave me the same message with the same language. Anyone?
Log onto the HT lobby and play. I assure you the game is not dead. AOW HT (Never played DA cause the HT expansion was already out when I started playing) was an improvement for me over C&C Generals - and I did not think it possible at the time! Took a while to get used to AOW's hunger for micromanagement whereas with C&C Generals, the individual units looked a bit better after themselves.
It is was with a bit of sadness that I opened my C&C3 pre-order and installed. It could only be better right? Well, it wasn't. I just build lots of stuff and go in. Yawn. And the units are "clustered". I suppose they did this because of the stability problems the old C&C Generals game had. With the microsimulation of each unit the game engine more often than not fell over, so to speak. It was really annoying. But clustering units to rather use macrosimulation techniques, to save on the processing power, man that was not the solution. The C&C guys should have just walked over to Eugen or Blizzard and asked them how to do microsim and still stay stable. WC I know (played it before C&C Generals) was (still is) as stable as anything - they did so by limiting the nr of units you can build (no longer necessary cause of leaps in processing power since then). AOW does have its occasional quirk but it somehow only manifests while on the GameSpy server...Maybe it is not AOW methinks... Still- it is FAR better (more stable) than the old C&C engine.
I flirted with Dawn of War, Lord (Bored) of the Rings II (sorry it was actually called Battle for Middle Earth), and AOEIII. The first 2 suffered the same symptoms as C&C 3 - macrosim (clustered) units. It causes the gameplay to loose some depth and character. When I loose a unit in C&C3 ... whatever, spam some more. AOEIII was just plane boring (too sanitized - the game engine appeared to be excellent though) and could not keep me.
Just as I thought of going the SupCom way, I read here that it appears to suffer from the very same thing, lack of depth. Well, call me obsessive, I will not merely reminisce of AOW, if you're looking for me find me in the AOW HT lobby. With a lot of others, having fun.
