Yesterday Sierra announced World in Conflict will be sharing platforms with the XBOX 360 as well as the PC, becoming the third strategy title available on the XBOX 360.
World in Conflict's hybridized approach to the action strategy genre makes it perfect for playing on a console like the XBOX 360. 360 fans will be treated to a different interface than the game's PC player counterparts. The interface is being designed to work seemlessly with the XBOX 360's controller and the inherent differences between a contoller and traditional PC input devices. The XBOX 360 version is being developed by Sierra's Swordfish studios in conjunction with Massive Entertainment, the company in charge of development for the PC version which is due out in September this year.
World in Conflict is a game based on the same server system as a first person shooter, with it's drop in style play, fixed match length, and rotating map line up. Players will be able to join any game in progress (or host their own) and then choose from one of several combat roles as they work with their team to control key areas on the map. The game will support up to 16 players in head-to-head multiplayer on XBOX Live, offering three unique gameplay modes: Domination, Assault and Tug-of-War.
The XBOX 360 version will not be cross-compatible with the PC version, meaning XBOX players will not be able to play against PC players and vice versa.
Expect to see the XBOX 360 version of World in Conflict on store shelves this fall.
It will really rocks if it is enabled, but I think Microsoft is not allowing it due to their stupid money-making techniques, will be really cool though. imagine 2 times the amount of players.
Yes, that's the only thing that controllers are better than mice and keyboards at: camera movement.
It's funny, when I was watching the Xbox 360 demonstration of C&C 3 at the EALA studio, all they could really do was show off how smooth camera zoom and rotation was. Other than that, there's definitely no advantage to buying the game on the console. In fact, it's signifcantly harder to play with the same precision as a keyboard and mouse.
So they were trying to get us to ooh and ahh at the camera movements made possible by the stick and dpad, but anyone with half a braincell won't care

Tbh, won't RTSes being made both for PC and console be very dumbed down to make the game able to be played on consoles as well as the PC? Idk but i feel a true RTS still needs a mouse / keyboard, and a good RTS is a RTS that requires good micro / hotkey usage to an extent to be the best. I might be very wrong though

depends on the game i reckon if they tried to make a console version of sup com i'd agree with you but the xbox should be able to handle WiC, might need to dumb down the graphics slightly but not much
