With Opposing Fronts the worldbuilder got some new options to use. One of them is to add weather options to your map, so that you can select between diffrent atmospheres when setting up a custom game in the lobby. It is not selfexplaing so i want to give you guys a guide on how to get it done.
The easiest way is to use the presaved atmosphere settings that relic uses for the retail maps, but its not a must. You can also set up your own atmosphere. Anyway, i will start to explain how you can use the atmosphere presets first. For this you need Corsix Mod Tool, to extract the atmosphere presets, because they are hidden and archieved by default. You can find and download Corsix Mod Tool in the attachement of this post.
So to start, open Corsix Tool, select "Load CoH Mod" and open the "relicCOH.module"
As a next step you have to select the folder in which the atmosphere-presets are saved. This is "..../Company of Heroes/WW2/Data/Art/Scenarios/Presets/atmosphere". Rightclick on that folder and select "extract all files in this folder".
Once they are extracted, they are available for you to load them in worldbuilder. You can load them by opening the Atmosphere Settings and then using "load" to open a preset. They are located in the same folder where you found them with Corsix. If you don't want to use a atmosphere preset, just create your own atmosphere and save it-
If you found 2 or 3 settings you liked note down the names of the atmosphere presets, like for example "mp_hinderdam_rainy_00.aps" or the name which you gave it, if you create your own atmosphere. Then open your ".../Company of Heroes/WW2/Scenarios/MP" folder with the explorer and there create a new text-document with the content shown in the next picture.
On the right side you need to place the name of your atmosphere setting. To get the code for the weather assignment in the game lobby you need to brows the retail map content and find a description that fits with your atmosphere setting. If you picked a preset its the best to take the description of the equivilent retail map otherwise just take one that fits to your atmosphere. If you found a map where this is the case, you need to extract the specific_map.options file of this specific map. How to do this is shown in the next picture.
The file will be extracted into your ".../Company of Heroes/WW2/Scenarios/MP" folder. Open it with a text editor of your choice by "right-click -> open with" and note down the code. Then use this code in your own weather set. Once you have done all this, save your text document and close it. After this rename the file (include the ending) into "yourmap.options". Thats it.
Note, actually it does only work with the .sgb-version of custom maps, which means you have to be in dev-mode when playing the map. The .sga version does not support this features yet, but hopefully they will add this soon with an upcoming patch.
I hope this helps

I set up for 2 weathers, got my .option file working fine, and everything is great on my computer. My friend and I are starting to test my map and last night when i ticked rain I got it and he didn't.
I think the problem is that i tweaked the presets a little and saved them under new name, and he is not getting the rain on because the new atmosphere i made is not on his machine, only the one that was there when i save it last. (ie: afternoon, not rain)
So an easy fix i guess would be to go back to a preset without tweaking it and roll with that for my weather options.
If you changed your atmosphere settings after saving the map, your friend cannot use them, thats for sure.
It's not that.
Atmosphere A: mymap_day.aps is the one it is on when I save it. works fine for everyone.
Atmosphere B: mymap_rain.aps only works on my machine when i host a game. If i tick rain i get mymap_rain.aps, everyone else gets mymap_day.aps no matter what option you pick in the lobby.
My question is, that they don't get rain because they don't have mymap_rain.aps on there machine, true or false? And if i just switch my rain option to a preset like mp_hinderdam_rainy_00.aps or whatever, will the rain option work for everyone?
Ah ok i get you now. ... Yeah you may be right with this. So what i recommed is, if you want to use an own setting, use it as the standart setting and save your map with it. The diffrent atmosphere options should be taken from the preset ones.
I don't get why they would make the .options file incompatible with .sga versions of maps even though that is what file type they want the maps in for the map creation contest...
