Like the Title says when u look at the Gameplay videos on youtube ect... an compare Dawn of war 2 with Starcraft 2 dont u think Starcraft 2 looks like david an Dawn of war 2 looks more like Goliath Starcraft 2 looks more like a cartoon while Dawn of war 2 looks like well.... u compare
Is it just me or have Starcraft just been outdated or is it because its more a game for Kids+??
Anyways didnt wanna anger any starcraft 2 fans out there since i also was looking Foward to play it... but when i think about the huge Diffrence between Dawn of war 2 an StarCraft 2 i cant see any reason why i should play Starcraft 2 compared to Dawn of war 2 ...
Maybe the Gameplay is better ??

If you compare two art styles, you'll always get subjective responses. I must say I like the way the game looks, it's really fun to look at exisiting screenshots and videos of SC2.
That's probably because I personally am not a fan of having the feeling that I'm playing in a war here, I embrace steps away from giving me that feeling. That's why I like playing Science-Fiction RTS games instead of games like Company of Heroes for example. This colorful art style is another step away from perfect realism and is in my opinion fun to watch, I always prefer colors over black and white shades...
Starcraft in my opinion was always a little less cartoonish than warcraft except for the first one and it comes down to the fact that if its good why change it. As for Dawn of war 2 i recon sc2 looks better, just an opinion. If it makes sc2 easier to mod like what happened in wc3 all the better.
DoW II looks better than SC II, the artstyle is more realistic and the game has better visuals judging from the screenshots and videos. But what makes a game a good game? Is it the graphics? No, graphics are just graphics, they're a nice add, but are way less important than gameplay if you're talking about a game. And when you're playing DoWII, are you going to drool at the nice lighting, reflections, high res texture maps and all the other fancy stuff, or are you going to actually play the game and smash those nids? I hope you're going to do the second thing cause in a game you're supposed to game, not to watch. Ofcourse the pretty graphics in DoWII will have it's uses, since cinematics will probably be rendered in the game engine, you'll have pretty nice visuals. But in SCII, the story mode is split from the actual battles so in cinematics you'll still have nice visuals. Also take into account that DoWII is of a smaller scale then SCII.
An important thing to remember is that the Warhammer 40K universe makes even the Diablo universe look bright and cheery, at least in the sense that there is a somewhat better-defined evil in the latter, and a somewhat better-defined end goal. To call SC2 cartoony against WH40K is certainly defensible, but isn't saying much.
Also, to anyone who thinks SC isn't cartoony, try a map with the Desert tileset, like Troy or Colosseum.

SC is a rip off of the 40k figure universe, it makes sense that SC1 looked gritty because with a few name changes and unit adjustments you'd have a warhammer game. By being a bit more cartoony the SC franchise become what Blizzard is known for with their "CRAFT" franchises.
My only problem with SC 2 is that it needs more and longer lasting splatters from Z and T units for that Starship Troopers the Movie feel, but that would fuck things up for low enders.

Yeah, long lasting bodies would be really cool, maybe something you could set up in the graphics options?
I actually think they're making SC2 more realistic compared to the old unit renders last year or something. And I kinda prefer the more cartoony look. For example, I don't like the new Siege Tank model because of the texture...
I guess it depends on your point of view. Reality is overrated anyway.

Not so much the bodies but more the splatters. I have a deep affection for the bright red and green. That should be controled by a decal limit or timer me thinks.
I find StarCraft 2 to be far more easy on the eyes than Dawn of War 2. I don't play a game have it so realistic I can nearly feel the heat on my face, I play to have fun. StarCraft 2 graphics are fun, colorful, but still retain a bit of a grit to them.
I guess it depends on what you mean when you say you want it to be "darker" or "more realistic". Someone define that and I'll give you a more definitive answer.
