Might as well establish this joint as a regular deal. Instead of pissing into the wind whining, let's actually play the damn beta! The Sunday session last week didn't get as many people as the first go-round, so let's go back to Saturdays. I figure on Sundays, folks in the US are either at church/family stuff in the morning, and Euros are getting ready for work/school the next morning. Log on at 19:00 GMT for some 1v1s, 2v2s, and even the occasional 3v3 and 4v4 if we're lucky. If people can actually expect a crowd to show up every week, then it becomes a self-sustaining kind of thing. Use this thread for GGs, hype, replays, etc.

Every Saturday

19:00 GMT
  • 11:00 AM US West coast
  • 12:00 PM US mountain
  • 1:00 PM US central
  • 2:00 PM US East coast

GGs to everyone I played. I don't know how I feel about Fire and Ice as a map yet, but the different visual feel is great.

Also, thanks to those of you who put your money where your mouth is and show up each week.

Yeh I like the look of Fire & Ice but it's just epic frustration against the Brits who only have a 1/4 of the retreat time when they've moved their HQ forward.

Even without the Brits if you lose the first few engagements, the huge retreat distance basically makes it GG right there. You lose whatever foothold you had on the middle fuel and its very hard to take it back or even tech up as there isn't much fuel to play with.

Not really an expert (Level 5 US), but the more people playing the beta the better. I'll see you next Saturday.

edit: Now I've got to search the boards on how to get the beta installed on Steam...

Yeah, last weekend I mostly played team games. I peaked into the 1v1 automatch a few times but it was always empty when I looked. Lynx and I tried to 1v1 each other through automatch, but the beta automatcher is practically unsuable. It's way faster to just manually host 1v1s and hope for the best.

Funny that most people on the beta seemed to want to play team games, I thought everyone was most concerned with 1v1 balance! Well, consider this a reminder that we're on again for this Saturday. Stop whining and start playing!

Aughhhhh, that mortar was horrendous. Could not recap or maneuver in the middle for fear of nuclear bombs falling from the sky. Between that and the four Calliopes, holding onto points was a nightmare. I kept wishing we had more munis for Prop War/RA or spare manpower for some PG squads to scorch/trap, but the battle was nonstop there at the end; no chance to breathe and regroup/OP. GG for sure.

I think I built (and lost) like six 88s over the course of that game ohmy.gif

truly the mortar from hell, I remember at one point I was back behind that middle house repairing a halftrack and 1 shell comes down and kills the whole 4 man panzer grenadier squad! Just 4 of 67 deaths by mortar sad.gif
