The Rise of the Witch-King section is happy to let you all know that you can now enter your screenshots in the Screenshot of the Week Competition. The rules are very simple and the winner of each and every week will win a star (see star system below) and the winning screenshots will then be posted in the game info/screenshots for all to see, but there is more...The winner also gets to pick the theme for the next weeks competition! This competition is only for Rise of the Witch King, any patch (2.01 or 2.02) version is allowed. This entries topic will be closed at around Friday midnight GMT, please be sure to have your final screenshots posted by then because this topic WILL NOT be reopened until a winner is chosen. You have from Monday until Friday to post your screenshots. Please note that some other prizes may be awarded in the near future, including new signatures.
The rules are few and simple. (1) You may post up to three screenshots per week ( you may change them at anytime ). (2) Everybody can enter. (3) The screenshots can can be of the official 2.01 patch or the unofficial 2.02 patch. (4) The screenshots can be of anything related to the week's theme (posted below). (5) Please do not use mods such as the RJ mod. (6) The winner will have a period of one day to choose the new theme before the staff pick it. (7) Please only use screenshots taken on official Rise of the Witch-King maps.
Here are some tips. (1) When you take a Screenshot you may wish to do so on Medium or above graphics. (2) Do not resize your Screenshots. (3) Be creative as this can play a big role in picking the winner. (4) If you have any trouble uploading pictures please feel free to ask in this topic. (5) Check the images tab every week for the winning picture. (6) Try not to take screenshots with chat text, tooltips and health bars in them. (7) If you press and hold the F9 key it will remove the Mini map (repeat this to make it return).
How to take and upload a Screenshot: When you press the F12 key you will take one Screenshot of what ever you can see on your monitor at the time of pressing the key. The Screenshot will then be saved in the following location. My Documents -> My Pictures -> The Lord of the Rings the rise of the Witch-king screenshots. The Screenshot will be saved as a .bmp file ( you cannot upload these onto gamereplays.org ) so you must change the file type to a .jpg. To do this is quite simple, just open the Screenshot and click on file in the top left corner -> then click Save as -> then you will see a Save as type drop down box -> just click on the downward arrow and then click on the JPEG and then click Save. The new JPEG file can be found in the same place as the rest of your Screenshots and is now ready for you to upload.
Alternative method: You may use Xfire to take screenshots as well. Make sure you have Xfire running in the background and use Scroll Lock + S to take your screenshot. After you close your game you will have to save and upload the screenshot. To do so simply click the Upload check box in the window that pops up, and once you've done that the screenshot is saved in the Xfire -> Screenshots folder in the drive that you installed Xfire on. It will not be saved as a .jpg, so please remember to change the file type to .jpg.
All you have to do to enter is post your screenshots in this topic and leave a short sentence about the game and what was going on at the time you took the screenshot and at the end of each week the RotWk staff will pick a winner.
The Screenshot of the Week Stars System
All Screenshot of the Week competition winners as of October 2009 will win stars whenever they win the competition. Here is a representation of what each star is worth:
Bronze star: 1 win
Silver star: 2 wins
Gold star: 3 wins
This will work like a ranking system; the person with the most stars will be the highest rank!
Idrinkyourblood won for the third time in a row! Unfortunately, since his account was suspended for a while, the runner-up should pick the theme for this week. The runner-up happens to be Lord Nevets, so please pick this week's theme Nevets!
