you guys had to post this AFTER i spent all that time figuring it out myself :\

I had reinstalled windows recently, but I keep all my games on a separate partition to save them incase of virus or w/e, and I got this error.

In the end I found a post on a diff forum saying that that's what the patch is searching for in the registry, so I can confirm it works.

Hope you can help people with this post.

Hello man. I got 10242 updating to 2.602...If you have time, it will be so so nice of you to make a new Regfix file...I guess lots of people need it badly...thank you in advance!

Hello guys ,try this if you have the 10242 code error.

Use the Regfix in the #12 comment,after you have finished go to the start menu in the windows and type to here "regedit"
Ok now you follow this direction in the Registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Company of Heroes.

(if you don't have the Company of Heroes folder in Registry the regfix is creat it)

The important thing in this folder is the DisplayVersion and the InstallLocation at the right side of the window.Now if you use the Regfix properly ,you see the DisplayVersion is 2.301.0 just double click on it and write here what version you have now.(i wrote here the 2.601.0)
and the InstallLocation it's easy double click and write here the location where you have the game.
(i have on the F:\Company of Heroes)

Good news for me anyway, I think Relic nay have been overwhelmed, mine works now. Complete reinstall though and patch.

I use Company of Heroes Tales of Valor legal.
My version is 2.500.0 and I download update patch 2.500.0 to 2.500.1.
When I Installed update patch I see error code 10242, but when I read this topic I solve My problem but now I have another problem for update I now meet a new error code 10267. I think this error depended a my relicCOH.exe file, becouse my relicCOH.exe isn't original and I use modify relicCOH.exe for play this game. this is mean I use a cracked game.
I need a original relicCOH.exe file.

Hi mate,

the problem you describe would not be solved by the process you describe, simply because an updated relicCOH.exe would still not function.
You best bet is to uninstall the whole thing (and all mods/skinpacks you may have) and re-install from scratch.
At some point you may encounter an issue with Relic's Patch updater. If you do, use this updater from HERE.

Syntax is important,

i've put them in screenshot, i will try to add the exported *.reg files which u need to open with NOTEPAD and edit the file locations/directories to your respective locations/directories

It worked for me for a windows 7 64bit system , for moving my game directory to the e: path


Cant seem to add the exported *.reg files though. u'll have to do it manually.

prolly the worst supported game ive ever encountered, havent been able to play the game for 2 years, trying everything, cant even install on win 7, fucking sad that they cannot make an installer that actually works, and you dont have to be a computer wiz to actually play the game.
