pingtoft, do you mind giving a brief summary of how one would go about using the Ripbot264 program to produce high-def vids?

I'm intrigued happy.gif

Sure
I assuming you have downloaded ripbot and unzipped it to a folder.

First, fraps the game and SC as per usual. I haven't tested it thoroughly but I think you get the best result if you can run the game in the same resolution as you intend for the final video so you can maintain 1 to 1 pixelmapping.
  1. Start Ripbot264.exe - It may complain about missing codecs/utils and provide you with a link where to get them.

  2. Attached Image
    Click 'Add'

    1. Click the '...' and browse to the fraps video file. This part is a little annoying because it demuxes the audio when you open the files, but it should only take a minute.
    2. If you want to change the resolution click 'properties' whicj will take you to pic3. You only have to do it for the first file - it will remember the setting for the next files.

    3. Change the output path if you want and click 'Done'.

  4. Repeat step 1-3 for all the files.

  5. Click 'Start' and sit back.
  6. Once the encoding is done you will have some .mp4. To join them together I've made a little script(see attachment). Before you use the script the first time you must first execute the command 'cscript //h:cscript': press <windows button+r>, type or paste 'cscript //h:cscript' and click run.
  7. How to use the mp4joiner script:
    1. Open a command prompt: press <windows button+r>, type 'cmd' and click run.
    2. Change directory to the ripbot with cd command
    3. The script takes 2 parameters: the directory where the mp4 files are and a name for the final video. Here is what it looks like:

Attached File mp4joiner.rar
Size: 617bytes
Number of downloads: 11

As long as there's a low-res option with speed/bandwith constraints!

h.264 will produce better quality than wmv at lower resolutions so it can be used for that too.

Where would we host these HD vidcasts of ours?

Wegame accepts them. I just uploaded one. It does take its time to process the video, though.

thx, tycho smile.gif

How does the filesize compare? The main reason I stopped trying to do my cast in 720p was because it would take 6+ hours to upload to WeGame on my connection. The file sizes were around 900mb for around 15-20 minutes.
