Congrats Marco. Mostly gg's in this final, that's all I wanted. Its not very common to have all games of the final session being UvC's, but that's very a good thing imo !
I tried my best those games, so did DC with doing all games the hardest bo to face ! Most of the games were very intensiv and both of us did some mystakes/floating at several points due to the huge ammount of micro that was required.
After rewatching the games, I think that the 1st 1 could have turned better to me with some better decisions at some turning points (wasting palas at sides).
The 2nd game I was tempted to pat drop since the way was free but his 1st gat disturbed me and I couldn't buy the required vee to stop oil capture at my oil. I normally planned to drop my dozer at 2nd oil to delay it a bit.
The 3rd game was a bit like the second in term of oils, I was a bit unlucky with my dozer and tought I killed his rg while it wasn't the case. China got 2 oils and its game over, all the rest of the game is only for the spectacle

The 5th turned good at start, a bit like the 1st but a bit more safe at start. Then I saw 1 possible weak point in middle and tried to harass it hardly, but some bad choice of directions with paladins made me waste them and gave china his oil. That was the turning point imo.
Was very fun to play in this final overall and i'm glad to finish 2nd of this tourny.

so guys...., the best usa player came second best to the best china player. now for the record does this mean usa is severly underpowered or was squak just having a bad day.i only bring this up cause i always enjoy watching squaks replays,lots of action and agreesive play from him. but in these games it looked like he was always on the defence.was that due to the fact that he was playing the best china player or is usa really underpowered?
If you compare these 2 Armies to the whole game on all maps its fine balanced. In a CvU mistakes of the Usa player gets more punished compared to China player (TD). Its not that Squaak didnt had the chance to win more then one game. My opinion is, pro army of both, same amount of mistakes, same skills TD favours China 60/40.

I agree with your analyse Killa, I just wanna add that the mystakes are much more painfull for Usa at start, basically any mystakes under 2 minutes of game would kill any chances of win for usa.
Like I said before, its not about the armies, but about the map. TD for sure gives a lil advantage to china, 2 safe suppies, very open map, middle supplies, oils. When you play against a china like DC, he puts so much pressure on all sides that it forces you to the mystake. When I concentrate too much on my attack, I would miss a gat in defence, and if I don't look on my attacks, I waste paladins at flanks like it happened several time in those games. It's just cause when you play against such a china, you have too much micro to do as Usa and it becomes very hard to do all things perfectly.
Luck at start counts a bit when you have to kill the rg at oils, if you fail at it, the game is over very fast cause china would take 2 oils. So in the games #2 and #3, I lost them both after 2 minutes. In the other games I think that my strategy, same that I used in November CW and used to work very good against other china, just can't work so well against chinas like DC. I'm talking about making my strat center after some minutes, in the early game, to get a fast and usefull burton and a little help in defence in case of huge gat/th. This just can work if I don't waste any unit at start and manage to harass china eco much more, which is like impossible vs DC cause he keeps always something in defence or manage to get units very fast to defend his trucks.
So making a strat center is the thing that push me down in my base and makes me loose any chance to stop the middle supplies (even if burton is very strong, its still not enough, its just too slow and DC had too much units compared to me). I've tried my best with this strat and the result of 20% clearly means this is not the best strat to do.
I think I should have adapted better to his tactic which was always the same all games (oil grab + fast mid supply and spamm from the 3 sides).
I would probably have better chance if I use this 4000$ (2500 strat center, 1500 burton) on spamming palas/md's/rangers and building another rax to push to the middle. This would have give me extra units, and since he didn't have better micro than me those games, it would have give him harder time, especially in the middle of the map. I should have tried to kill as much as I could in middle, and to provocate the fights in order to get fast promoted. For sure, its also hard to defend the sides with this tactic but easier to hurt china eco, so it increases the chances of win for usa (but I still think DC's china would have the advantage overall, just the score could have been closer if I played like this in game #1 and #5).
Finally I start to believe usa should buy a strat center only when they control all the middle, which wouldn't happen untill very very late game vs top china, so better not building a strat center at all would be the best and just keep pushing during all the game to get more and more control of the map and fast promotion, also rebuilding just a cc in mid game would avoid any dozerhunt and gives fast a10 once usa gets promoted. S&D and burton are great things but its just too late till u get it against top china, the difference of money gets too huge. Palading/md's/rangers should do the job during whole game if its very good microed
