In case this hasn't been posted before: The Maps.big file contains quite a number of maps (42 multiplayer and 6 "AI"), of which only 15 are "finished" and listed in the game. The others are a mix of unfinished and experimental maps. I've zipped them up and attached them here, you can place them in your custom map directory to check them out, or open them in the WorldBuilder and fiddle with them.

Attached File HiddenMaps.zip
Size: 10.65mb

Hey,

Are you able to extract the standard maps also?

I want to view some of the details of them in worldbuilder.

Thanks in advance.

Wow blink.gif this is interesting. do you guys use the same .big extractor from the other cnc titles or was there a tool that extracts files from the .big file? Now I have to install worldbuilder again just to see this wacko.gif

If any of these maps are good, I'd spread them like wildfire at mp games since they're 'official' materials.

Oh yeah, if you have any other goodies or stuff like this please post them here. I'm certain that not many people are familiar with that stuff you just shared. Thanks for sharing.

Lost Valley is here blink.gif

Hi - in answer to both posts: Yes, the maps are just packed up into a BIG file ... Maps.big, perhaps not so surprisingly :-) I trust you can find your way around BIG files.

Have a look at the bonus gallery section of the game info for some stuff you may not have seen yet, all extracted from the game files.

Yet another clue that EA released an unfinished game... sad.gif

At least nice to see you got a chance to extract them!
That's great news laugh.gif

Your trust is misplaced!

I know nothing about BIG files (other than possibly they are large?). Can you provide a hint (or map) or two...??? biggrin.gif

You can find lots of BIG file extractors online. Possibly the best integrated one is XCC 1.46 (website, download). You can also use OS BIG Editor 0.5 or FinalBig, or get JonWil's cnctools from the SDK Extras, which contain a BIG extractor.

OK. I've looked at them all and turns out only 3-4 of them are not the building blocks of the current official maps.

They are:
Arctic 1 mp Bemo -no tib
Arctic Ownes 02 -no tib
Arctic omb- total blank
Junktpwn 02-no tib
pollymesa Ownes- bridges 2 levels, nothing else

The rest are just alphas and variations:
Arctic Fesil= B Basin
Arctic Ownes= IS Omega
Pan America= original Pipeline p
PanAmerica ownes= inverted IS Omega
Pollymesa ombo\ao= Jaded peaks

I thought XCC can only do MIX files
