Don't go for laser upgraded scorps vs GDI, cause he will probably go for railgun upgrade at about same time and totaly wreck you unleas you have some big advantage in numbers.
If you don't have tech up, it's best to switch to manspamm and mix it with your remaining scorps, but it really depends what he has already and what kind of information you given him on the map and your own tech.
In mirror match get the upgrade ofc. if it's scorpspamm vs scorpspamm your facing then laser scorps win obv.

You are slightly correct. Instead of spending the cash on scorpions and upgrades use your tech against them.
A wise player utilizes the tech they have.(For instance its best to get Avatars instead of more Scorpions and the upgrade)
In a mirror you can still utilize your tech advantage(there is no need for the upgrade)
Instead-every Avatar you buy get a beam cannon and upgrade the avatar so it can dominate the opposition and doesnt fall victim to focus fire.
If you have plenty of scorpions left over then maybe you should get the upgrade and try to get more Scorpions but remember Nod is a fast harassment faction so rely a little bit on trying to destroy his/her harvesters with Stealth Tanks and just two shadow teams can destroy a power plant so try to take upgraded power plants out.All at once you can take his/her power out and give you time to build up a counter offensive to his/her army.
You wont have time to get avatars + beam cannons for upgrade in mirror, because he will roll you over. (you need 2 WF to produce 1 unit in what you suggested while he will probably have eco advantage because of more mobile army therefore expoing faster than you and getting scorps from 2 or even 3 WF at same time)

Or defend with rocket militants and base defenses(maybe a few obelisks) and your avatars and wait until their onslaught ends then strike back or like I stated above, Harass their economy and use guerilla tactics with stealth.Maybe add a few specters to your defense or use them to harass undefended areas.Of course this gets expensive but with correct harassment early on you can delay the attack and bolster your own economy.But most Nod mirrors do consist of teir 1 vehicle battles often bikes transitioning into scorpions.If its too much of a problem there is always the stealthed redeemer to crush and rage gen the scorpions.
