My new baby, just arrived today . surprisingly....the Mrs got it for me hooked it up with 80 pound braid, can't wait to see what this bad boy can do . jewfish..here i come ps.sry about the huge file sizes, couldn't reduce them with paint.
looks good. 80 pound thats some heavy gear. is it a surf set up? i have never used braided line on any of my own reels b4. i assume it has a much smaller diameter than normal line?
cant go wrong with shimano, their reels have really strong bearings.
sounds like a good set up. i have a shimano long cast reel on my surf rod. its 10 years old now, and not a thing wrong with it. well besides a few scratches on the spool that need polishing off.
your lucky, over there you have a larger variety of species to target.
Just got back now,was pissing down all night.I wouldn't have left if it wasn't for your bro complaining all fucken night about the rain.Caught an eel and one of those weird looking sharks,no jew yet . The shimano is a machine piggy

lol yeh he came back soaked and pissed!!! hahaahahaha
The Baitrunner showed its might today with this 70cm kingy (my first). I've pulled in big port Jackson sharks with the Shimano but none of them had shit on this Kingy . What a fight he put up,un-fucken-believable..i'm stoked .
Whales mostly eat krill (very tiny shrimp like creatures) and plankton (as big as a grain of rice)...so yeah, your ding dong will make for good bait as it closely resembles their natural food source .
70cm thats a very nice kingy well done done m8. i would be stoked with that catch.
when you hooked him did he dive? normally they do, it would not be easy to keep that beast out of the snags.
port jackson sharks are like pulling in a dead weight aye. they are the most docile fish you ever see. you can just grab them by the tale when your diving.
Not only did he dive but he tried to get around the pylons a few times,i fought him hard and steered him away. The bottom of the wharf is all jagged/rusted steel and the braid was scrapping on it hard,i thought i was going to lose him for sure. This is precisely why i use 80 pound braid .
Yes the Poert Jackson sharks are docile but this fat 90cm one was like pulling in a tractor.
