Yep, he's one of the forgotten heroes. That's not to say he's bad, its just that there are a number of commanders where it is very easy to play and hard to beat. My list of what I see at the moment from most to least-
All the bloody time- CL FC WB
Reasonably often- HT Sorc WL WSE TM FS ComL Inq
Rarely- LA PC Knob LG
Once in a blue moon- Apo Mek RA

FC was buffed, Apo was nerfed to oblivion, so go figure. Before I played Apo, switched then to FC and because I found it already silly myself switched now to TM.

It's almost as if people enjoy one dimensional brutish melee heroes, rather than ability intensive support commanders. Figures. ;-)
It's not just that though they are much easier to use and use well. They also tend to have great globals, Warboss melee buffs, Asstermies and bloodlust to some extent, and in the case of chaos lord have the super awesome worship ability.
The Apoth has been nerfed in various small ways for many patches. Many of these nerfs were reasonable considering the potency of his core heal ability, and I've personally approved of all of them. Unfortunately, the Chainsword change in 3.18 made it common knowledge that the after effect of his heal synergised in an unreasonable way with +regen modifiers. This had to be fixed...
For reasons that I cannot fathom, 3.19 fixed this synergy by nerfing the single reason the Apoth stayed viable for so long despite numerous small nerfs.
The Apoth is now a shell of what he once was. He remains the SM support style commander, so anyone (like me) who prefers support gameplay will favor him. However, anyone who wants to have an even chance of winning against comparably skilled foes (again, me included) shouldn't play him.
So I play FC now like everyone else.

No, no he isn't. Take this from someone who screamed for nerfs on the Apo, and played a fair deal of Apo before and a lot of Apo after. You can't win evenly skilled matches with him. He has his uses, stims are still good and heal spam, while not as effective as before, is still there. But in a much shittier way.
But hey, at least he has a .3 regen melee weapon he'll never get to use.
Whatevs, I made a seriously detailed thread about what's wrong with Apo, got like 4 replies, so /care, I play PC now, he heals far better.
Yeah, I find his heal to be pretty worthless now. I have no idea why they had to straight up remove the after heal regen. Would a nerf to it and see what it was like from their not be good, rather than it's entire removal?
Also, it now does feck all with termies. Before, the heal worked too well with them, but now you are giving them back 360 hp of their 4500, so I always buy Armour of apothacarion to advanced healing them.
I thought the heal worked already before not well on Terminators. You even back then needed to cast several heals on Terminator squads before they were back to full health. Now it is just much worse. In contrast a Mekboy can heal his Nob squad by 2000 HP in one single use of his ability.
