**Catachan changes** Something you might want to consider small sons

Catachan squad at the moment comes in a nice bundle of 7 ramboes, all with a population value of 2 per member.
2x7 = 14 population (EZ MAFF)

** Assuming population values of the squad becomes unchanged **
Now, with the reduction of 2 members, this by default without any other changes, will reduce their population value from 14-4 = 10

Bare in mind, with the reduction of members, this will ALSO reduce their upkeep values, meaning they're going to be less stressful on the overall IG economy. (This seems to be slipped peoples mind completely, good thing I'm here to tell you!)

So, the population values are either going to stay, or be raised to 3 (meaning 5x3 = 15 population, an increase of +1 ** Minor nerf in the addition the changes)

What do you expect, 10 population catachan squad with reduced upkeep, or 15x with slightly higher? wink.gif

Confirmed: Catachans are now 10 population from 14. So ya.

Tbh, I don't think it'll make much of a difference. With the squad sizes and the pop cost of 2 fully upgraded GM's being so high, along with the sentinel having such a large pop cost, it'll be ok, they'll still be over the upkeep threshold, and unless the new squad becomes stupidly powerful with the LG medipack and move move move, I don't see any reason they shouldn't be reduced pop cost and upkeep.

They're going to be 10.2 less upkeep from the get-go, less population, economically pushes other unit purchases/wargear faster in consequence to it as well. Let-alone the fact they're going to be slightly better at what they do in conjunction with it as well.

There's alot to it then you might think, and espicially if they become a quite-powerful unit investment (in effiency in general, not factoring economical advantages to the unit), a potential norm can become a 2x Cata squad (effectively opening up 20.4 upkeep as a whole, + 8 population) and the effiency in general.

I'd reckon Toilalee will be happy over this, considering I told him a while ago about the 2x fast cata-build, and it worked pretty effectively in some matchups, and now it just got even better.

It's just some heads-up, and if it's found abit OTT in the upcoming patch, you might want to dwelve into some figures such as these.

It's all in theory tho, but I'd thought some light on the subject wouldn't hurt anyone. happy.gif

I know, I know.

I'm just gomma point out that in the context of any other army, that upkeep might have me shouting from the rooftops about nerfing it, but tbh, within the context of the IG army, something like this was kinda needed IMO as GM's are extremely upkeep heavy, tho that's offset with the 2/3-for-the-price-of-1 thing they have going on for them when you invest in them.

I'd think it'd be worth trying this, and then fixing it after if it does prove to be OTT.

If this were to be fixed, I'd also suggest making the sarge and the commissar on the GM squads cost 0 pop. Thus bringing down the pop cost of a GM squad by like 1233455654221 as its currently huge (a bit too much IMO)

2x cata = 80 power, kinda investment compared to 2xCSM / 2xTAC stuff.... a lot. 2x catas only viable if opponend was "really surprised". But I agree: medpack needs performence nerf / maybe a extra power cost of +5

the thing with medpack tho is: once you invested you will use the LG differently as you dont want to risk loosing the sergeant..... but could be 10 power I think

it will mean chaos players will have no reason to go t3 so yes it will work more than it does now... t3 for nuke mb but sorc red heavy
for his t1 nuke and t2 tele.
but less incentive to go t3.

Actually, a fast-tech to T3 is a viable counter to walker useage. (Which is being promoted in play due to a much lower cost)

It's a similiar case to how vanilla DoW2 end-game was.

Lol Legion Autarch gibbs any suppression team np even a full health one if you know how to place the nades and nothing wont save it. So its not only chaos that has potential to nuke a squad.
