They haven't told us the third faction as we speak, but what if they also surprise us with a fourth!? Do you want a fourth faction? Do you think we'll have a balanced game with four factions or not? Speculate and discuss here.
I wouldn't mind a fourth faction in all honesty. They can certainly get it more balanced than they got ZH's 12 armies. As long as it's not a gimped army that is missing basic components such as tanks, aircraft, or artillery, they shouldn't have much trouble balancing it.
There is a maybe option missing, it all depends on how the fourth guy is implemented and balanced. If that is done properly then i wouldnt care even the slightest even if there are 6 armys.
If balance scheme like in C&C3:TW (every race got tank, tier1 aa, tier1 anti-inf, tier2 difference special infantry, tier2 and tier3 some differences, etc), so it will be easy to balance 4 factions.
But if we will have more difference races, like StarCraft scheme, where every race got unique unit types and numbers of thems (aka 4 zerglings vs 2 marine vs 1 zealot, and every of those units got slighty difference roles), so better then 3 races.
But for me, no difference. It depends on how they will make differences between factions.
The only foreseeable niggle with a fourth faction is the possibility that it is not very different from the existing three. Provided this is not the case (and it doesn't mess with the canon much ala aliens), the number of factions is not a problem.

I lol'd at this. I still remember reading about Zero Hour pre release, being excited because I loved (and still love) Generals, and thinking "WTF no tanks here, no artillery here, no air here?"
if they cant keep it balanced then yeah sure why not,
The thing is that each unit has to balanced with everyunit in that 4th faction... That takes allot more fine tuning then just having three...
This is different to ZH where we had 3 distint armies but 9 Factions, The core of the sub factions were the same, allowing a tuning of only a few units of that faction
