they're not that squishy with extra armour and they do have smoke grenade. i almost never see it used
That's true, however you do have to take into account that they're still relatively weak when it comes to taking actual damage. You just have to pay attention to it, and you'll be fine. It has the speed, and if it gets snared, you should be ready for that. All I'm getting at is the thing just simply isn't intended to take punishment, so you need to make sure you watch where you place it and what you do with it.
