British Royal Canadian Artillery Strategy Guide

By warhawks - 18th June 2009 - 14:39 PM

The Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) Support Regiment is an under utilized and un-popular choice amongst 1v1 British players. GR's very own Brit SM Otherside challenges that notion and has developed a 1v1 Brit guide that leverages the power of the RCA Regiment. Otherside walks you through the various British Tiers recommending the essential build orders and the timing of emplacement building that complement the use of the RCA in 1v1 game play (note that this can also apply in 2v2 games as well). So here is Otherside with his RCA strategy guide.

Introduction

Hello GR, I hope you find this guide helpful and that it provides you with some thoughts on how best to leverage RCA in 1v1 games as the British. This guide designed for 1v1's however can work in 2v2 with the right support. Using RCA doesn't rely on a set build order; it has more to do with using all the artillery related abilities at key times during the game.

Why use this strat? Well although Royal Commandos is clearly the best and most popular 1v1 regiment for British players, I find commando's to be over-priced and at times somewhat detrimental late game. Additionally, the entire Royal Engineer regiment is a joke and you wind up floating so many munitions it therefore leads to wasted resources (munitions). Therefore, RCA is the best choice for me and it can work very well.

The centerpiece of my RCA strategy is the 25 pounder backed with T3 tanks with the goal of creating an attack from the sky and ground. This strategy works best against Wehrmacht particularly Defensive players (with medic bunkers). It can also be effective against Panzer Elite because artillery works great against light armored units.

Finally, this strategy should not be played with a defensive (campy) mentality, you should look to be aggressive with your infantry and harass the enemy's key sectors.
